  1. Perfect place to chit chat and eat while in here! Came here for brunch with my girls and wow we stood here for 3hrs+ continually ordering! It was that good! Nice Spanish music vibe and great service! Started off with the guacamole with chips and that was delicious! Fresh avocados!! Then we all orders the skirt steak for bunch surprisingly not planned! We were hungry after the guacamole!! Skirt steak was good portion for brunch including scramble eggs, more guacamole and potatoes!! I findihed my whole plate without feeling overly stuffed or anything! It was delicious and beyond great! Coming back for more!! Best was the pomegranate mimosa hands down!!

  2. Ordered: Guacamole & chips, and Grilled steak tacos

Pros–The guacamole was a nice mix between chunky and smooth. The steak was hearty and the avocado had a great freshness and color.

Cons–I feel like there should've been more chips with the guacamole, but since there was complimentary salsa and chips, I was able to grab some of those. The tacos were a little difficult to eat since the avocado slices were so hefty. I tried my boyfriend's mezcal margarita which was overpowered flavor-wise by the alcohol. There weren't any other prevalent ingredients.

  3. What a great gem in the Bay Ridge area! Great atmosphere with awesome service!

My friend wanted to try this place since he lives in the neighborhood. We came here around 7 and unfortunately, the tables were full. This place isn't that big, perhaps around 6 tables? However, they sat us at the bar area and got us started with drinks, which is great service!  I ordered the El Bulldog, which is a frozen margarita with a flipped coronita. I always wanted to try these kinds of drinks because they looked so cool. I'm glad I did because it was pretty goood! I would definitely recommend that drink! After a couple of minutes, they were able to seat us at the tables. I'm glad the wait wasn't too long because I was super hungry!

For appetizers, we of course ordered the fried calamari (being the calamari lovers that we are). Calamari is always so good!

For entrees, I ordered the chicken tinga quesadillas and it was soooo goood! I'm glad I didn't ordered a huge entree because the calamari filled me right up. My friend ordered the burrito and it also looked good. I would definitely recommend the quesadillas!

At the end, we decided to get the chocolate flan that everyone was talking about. So glad we did! Tasted great, as well. They even wrote "Enjoy" in script on the side! I wish I had the picture, but I accidentally deleted it off my phone. Definitely get the flan!

Overall, if you are craving some Mexican/Latin American food, pop in!

  4. Blue Agave is an intimate, little tequila bar and restaurant. The bar is filled with dozens of tequilas and their boasts any impressive selection of margaritas I opted for the mezcal margarita which is a fixed drink – not an alcoholic smoothie.

For starters, we shared the guacamole. It was made without tomatoes, so I found the raw onions to be too assertive. We were also served a tomato sauce like salsa which has pleasant flavors derived from peppers. Both were good with the chips.

I had Ropa Vieja for my main entree which was pulled skirt steak with rice and brown beans. The steak was delicious. It was tender and earthy; it was very stew like. I've never had skirt steak like this, yet I found it very enjoyable.

The service was quick, attentive, and friendly.

  5. Came here during Happy Hour. They have great happy hours from Monday-Thursday. I think(!!) it's from 5-10pm?

$10 off pitchers, so our margarita pitcher came out to be $24. Super delicious and they are not shy with the alcohol!
They also have $5 apps: wings, empanadas, and other finger foods.
My co-workers stayed for a little over an hour, talking about useless girl obnoxious things and the staff were so patient with us!

Thank you Blue Agave for serving us delicious drinks and dealing with our pointless chats.

  6. Dinner Review

Overall the food was pretty decent. Staff was very attentive, asked us several times if we needed anything.

Really tasty mezcal Margarita, complete with chili lime salt at the rim. I had the guava one, could have used more mezcal, I didn't get enough of the smoky taste.

    Appetizers:
Steak empanaditas – they were just OK, lacked seasoning and flavor.. Anddd didn't come with any dipping sauces.

Mango ceviche – Maybe the pieces of fish were cut up so small they were barely noticeable. They should call this dish mango salsa with 3 shrimps on top.

I always try fish tacos when offered. It was pretty good but again pieces of fish were too small. I liked the spicy bits of jalapeño with the smoky Chipotle aioli. You also get the option to add guacamole (a nice hefty portion) on your tacos for just $1.50!

Overall good experience for low key dinner and drinks.

  7. Came here on a sunday night to order some take out.  Was driving and missed the restaurant because it was kind of small and didn't really stand out.  Parking is almost impossible around there.

Had their corn on the cobb, ground beef blue agave nachos, el acuatico taco, and pernil platter.  The corn on the cobb is good but really spicy.  Felt like my tongue was on fire.  The order of nachos was really big.  It was flavorful and very satisfying.  The el acuatico taco was ok.  Tasted fresh. The pernil platter was flavorful and have you craving more of the pork.  Rice and beans were great also.

Great mexican restaurant.  Hard to find one that is good.  Can't wait to try other stuff on their menu.

  8. This place is a hidden gem I found because of Yelp! I eat out in Bayridge often and have never heard of Blue Agave until I saw it on Yelp so I decided to give it a try.
We came in on a Thursday around 6:30pm and they had live music being played which was a nice surprise. The restaurant is small but very cozy. We were seated and our server came over to tell us happy hour was over at 7 and to order drinks now if we wanted. I got a margarita on the rocks for $5, which was delicious, one of the best margaritas I've ever had and the price can't be beat.
As an appetizer we ordered beef nachos which were out of this world, they were so tasty. For my entree I got the steak fajitas with a side salad. The steak came out on top of peppers and onions on a sizzling plate. The side salad came with a few pieces of queso fresco in it, soooo good. My boyfriend ordered the chicken burrito which I had a bite of that was also so good.
The food here was delicious and the service was also great. This will now me my go to spot for Mexican food, I can't wait to go back!
