  1. Locksmith is your typical cool bar but with a tinier kitchen so don't arrive hungry (your food will require patience).

It's my absolute favorite burger place in Washington Heights – service up a nice patty, good toppings, and your choice of starch (fries, yucca, etc) and its accompanying sauce.

The drinks are pretty good especially during happy hour with a nice number of beers on tap. There's even a separate wine storage loft which is always amusing to see.

The staff, always pleasant, which is refreshing for a place that is always so packed.  The ambiance can get a little loud and rowdy though – especially if there's a good game on.

Overall though, my experiences have been good. Some folks may be alarmed by the artwork in the restroom.. I couldn't help myself but laugh out loud. (insert-Ghostbusters-joke-here)

  2. Came in a couple of weeks ago for some happy hour/day drinking with a buddy of mine who was in town, and we had a great time!

We sat at the bar and the bartender greeted us immediately. I forgot her name but she was a nice young lady who was pursuing acting. Right away she told us about the specials, which included a burger and beer combo. We immediately told her to stop and we didn't need to hear anymore; two burger/beer combos, please! We opted for cans of Tecate with our meals.

The food came out promptly and was delicious. We destroyed our meal and continued to enjoy the rest of happy hour.

Overall, the place is smaller and has a good vibe to it. The bartender was friendly and nice and was hustling helping people on the floor as well as the bar. All the other drinks I observed her making looked really good, especially the margaritas. The bar was clean and organized and the bathrooms were clean, too.

My friend and I only came in for a burger and happy hour beers but I will definitely make it a point to come back here next time I'm in the area!

  3. Came here over the weekend for a quick dinner. Cute, little local spot (although, definitely not local for me), fun vibe. I had the turkey burger with sweet potato fries. Very tasty. I always have a hard time finding a well-seasoned turkey burger but this did the job.

The only downside is that the name is "Locksmith Wine & Burger Bar"  but the wine list was very small, from what I remember, 4-5 wines and 3 of which were from California. I am not a fan of California wines. I ordered the only wine that wasn't from California. As an avid wine drinker, I would not put this in the wine bar category AT ALL.  They should just drop the "wine" part in the name.

    Friendly service.

Wouldn't mind coming back if I was ever in the area again.

  4. I'd like to give this place 3.5 stars. The burger was good. However, I would never call this place a wine bar.

It's small, and they've done a good job with the decorating to make it a little cuter than your typical tavern. BUT Locksmith basically just sells pub food – mostly fried stuff that you'll find on any menu in America. If you don't want a burger…. good luck with your other options as they don't seem super appealing. Also, our menus were sticky. My wine was okay, but part of the fun of drinking wine is being able to complement different wines with different tastes, and their menu just doesn't allow for that. They'd be better off renaming themselves and going for burgers and beer instead of wine.

Service was fine, nothing crazy. It was extremely loud. I'd head back if I were in the mood for a burger and beer.

  5. A friend of mine told me to come here and try their wings. I must say I was starving and in the neighborhood so I decided to go. I had the buffalo wings and yuca fries and to me it was just ok. I actually enjoyed the fries way more than the wings. Maybe I need to go back and try something else. As for the location it is very small but it's a chill atmosphere. The waiter was nice but I felt like it was a bit slow too. I will only be back if I am in the neighborhood.

  6. My friend and I went here for dinner since it's right by her place and it was ok. Standard bar food with bar fare like burgers, sandwiches and some salads. I had the turkey burger which was a large patty actually with onion rings on the side. The burger was a little tough to eat since the patty was large. But what I really liked was the bun it was like a poppyseed bun, yum! Not your standard white, wheat or sesame bun. I appreciated the generous serving of onion rings, I've been to some places where they only give you three or so. My friend ordered a salad and the cajun shrimp and fries basket. She liked both and actually the basket had a nice flavor and kick to it. I had some fries.

They have a decent selection of beer. They also have daily specials. We came on a Sunday so it was a bucket of five miller lite or some equivalent beer and wings for $20. Looks like their Tuesdays have great specials though. They had a section on the menu dedicated to it. It's an ok place, more of place to enjoy the game on one of their tvs with a beer and bar foods.

Service was fine as were prices.

  7. Came here with a couple of friends to have a couple of drinks. Can't really say much other than the place is chill and quiet when I went. They have a Few TVs and the staff is very friendly and social. Drink prices were reasonable. Looks like a perfect spot to take a date. I want to come back to try out some food.

  8. If you stick to the burgers, beers, fries and wings you'll probably enjoy the food. Everything else is no bueno. I went for Tequila-Tuesdays, which is (you guessed it) ..a small selection of Mexican food and half priced Margaritas and Tecate beer until 11pm. I had the shrimp tacos which were sooo dry I thought I was in the Sahara desert. They add so much Cilantro that it overpowers the shrimp and tortilla. Yep, just shrimp and tortilla. No sauce, seasoning or even tomatoes 🙁 One of my biggest pet peeves is when places mess up tacos or the simple things in life for that matter. Ugh. Hit or miss! The sangria and mojitos are also watered down.

On the other hand, the Locksmith burger is divine! Def added a star or two. Especially with a side of yuca fries. Scrumptious! The blonde (I think owner) is super attentive and friendly. The rest of the staff is aloof and not the friendliest :/

I will def come back for a good burger and beer. FYI, they have TVs for you sports fanatics. Woooooo.
