  1. How did I not realize this was right over the Jackson street bridge in Harrison? My bad.

I have heard pretty good things about five guys so went in with high expectations. Wasn't disappointed. I had the "little" (meaning 1 patty) bacon cheese. The burger was nicely cooked, bacon crispy and awesome (I mean it's hard to mess up bacon), and perfectly melted cheese. You get to pick your toppings. I went simple- mayo and BBQ sauce, and the result was a delicious burger. The bun was also really good, soft, almost sweet, and tasted pretty fresh.

The service was great. So much energy and enthusiasm, they really put in their all and are super friendly and nice. Soda machine seemed cool (touch screen I think) though I didn't use it.

One small complain is the price. Definitely not cheap and the sizes aren't that big. Fries top $3, and my pretty small burger was $6 or something. So it isn't the best bang for your buck but it is pretty good and I will be back when I want a burger.

  2. This was my first experience at Five Guys and it did not disappoint.  Was waiting to be picked up by a friend and this seemed like a place to chill right off the PATH station.  Neighborhood is developing – time to get a condo!  Anyhow, just ordered the fries and they were quite impressive.  Freshly cut.  A bit greasy but wasn't heavy going down.  Free peanuts?!  whaaa?

  3. We ordered take-out from Five Guys for lunch at work and we even called our orders in so we could just pick it up immediately. This place is right by the Harrison path. Parking for diners here is free at the Harrison Parking Garage.

Their burgers are good. But not a fan of the soggy & bland fries from this branch . It took about 10-15 minutes to get here due to normal Newark/Harrison traffic. And although we called ahead, still had to wait 15-20 minutes since they messed up our order (I recommend doing online ordering instead).

  4. I come here on occasion for lunch and every single time, the staff is polite, welcoming, patient and always smiling! Which to me is always a plus. Even when the pace picks up and the establishment starts to fill with patrons they keep up the same genuine demeanor.
The place is also very well kept, brightly lit as well as clean. The orders were put together quickly and efficiently which is really good for a walk-in large lunch order.
I will continue to come to this place because of their staff.
    Keep up the great work!

PS I wish there was an option to order on-line and pay in store, not just use a credit card. My company only uses cash for the expense report purposes.

  5. I love Five Guys. I love the concept of Five Guys. I love the burgers at Five Guys and I love the Hot Dogs at Five Guys. I love the free peanuts at Five Guys  What I HATE about this particular Five Guys is that no matter how nicely, or emphatically, I ask for my fries to be well-done I'm given a nod and I get a sack full of limp, undercooked potatoes.

Went today with a couple of guys from work to get takeout and we are greeted very nicely by the two employees at the registers (I think we were the lunch rush-this place is never very busy when we stop in)…I get my parking ticket validated (a nice touch by the way Five Guys) and ordered a single cheeseburger with grilled onions, lettuce, pickles, jalepenos and ketchup; a cheese dog; and well-done fries. Now they were very nice to us, and I KNOW I should've checked before I left, but I get back to the office and my burger has no jalepenos, my cheese dog has no cheese, and my fries are not well done.  If the food didn't taste so damn good anyway I'd give them 2 stars. how do you NOT put cheese on a cheese dog?!?

In a nutshell, I still love Five Guys…but as friendly as the service was it still left a lot to be desired.  Since it's the only one near me at work I can only hope they start getting the orders right…or they'll have a tough time staying in business.

  6. It's been established that I like the Five Guys brand.  This link on the chain is a little weaker than the others I've experienced.  The Fies are smaller, dining room is more crowded and organization is, well less organized.  The food is still classic Five Guys but the experience is more Mickey D's.  Maybe if you hit this place outside of peak hours it's better, but I'm not betting my $10 bucks on it.
