Not a fan! I ordered a medium rare burger. It was more rare than medium. As other reviewers said, there were bones in the greasy burger. We ordered the trio which was fried onion, sweet potato and French fries. It was more grease than edible food. Two burgers, the trio and two beers came to over $40.
This place needs to be investigated by the board of health. That is the first issue that I have with this place. The guy who took the order was the same guy serving food, collecting payment, wiping tables all with the same gloves on, never taking them off or changing them. All of the employees were doing the same thing, even the manager.
On to the food, burger pattie much too small for the bun, no lettuce or tomato.
Fries- very small portion over cooked & oily. Fries were forgotten at first so the guy takes the whole plate back to the kitchen instead of just bringing the fries out.
Manager was requested because of the issues that were witnessed & the manager didn't care. The words out of his mouth were "yeah, ok whatever"
Oh, & they're way too expensive
Stay away from this place.
Not the worst burger I've ever had, but it's lower on my list of best burgers I've had rather than higher; it was palatable, but definitely hyped up to something it is not.
After an evening shopping trip across the street at DSW (…you know how we do…), the beau and I wanted a quick bite, and as the "brgr" sign glowed across Broadway, we figured it'd be a good place to fill our bellies. We entered to a bright and shining dining area and perused the menu, signs boasting grass-fed meats, et al. The New Yorker in me is no longer phased, after close to six years, at high priced burgers. Still, in my opinion, a high price must beget quality. Bareburger? I'll pay at least $10 for their burgers. Mel's Burger Bar near Columbia? I'll pay $12.95 for their Dirty Hipster Burger and not blink an eye. Pricey, but excellence in overall ingredient quality and execution is always passed onto me as a customer. I suppose I was expecting the same from brgr, and it was not provided.
As we sat down at our table, I checked in on Yelp and was a little shocked to see a solid two-star review for this place after a few doezen reviews. "Ummmm…it can't be that bad, right?", I thought with apprehension. I've been to plenty of fast-food / casual places with a low rating that I've ended up loving! Well…
I can't speak for service, as the beau ordered while I sat with my shopping bags full of boots and clothes. (How girly of me…) He ordered for us, and someone delivered to our table. I went with the Rainforest, which had Gruyere, avocado, herb mayonnaise, lettuce, and tomato. He went with the Beautiful Day: American Cheese, brgr Sauce, grilled onions, lettuce, tomato, and pickles. We split a side of fries. My burger was pretty sloppy and small for the price I paid for it. The bun was soaked through with sauce, the patty was unimpressive, the avocado was turning brown, and the square slice of Gruyere was un-melted and a bit hard to the tooth. The herb mayo, actually, was this burger's saving grace, as it tasted fantastic! The french fries looked better than they tasted, which was a damn shame. Though golden and crispy looking to the eye, they were fairly limp upon touching them, bordering on room temperature, and flavorless even with a good dose of salt and ketchup. As for the beau's burger, he took a few bites, looked at me, shrugged as he said, "Ehhhh," and wrapped about a 1/3 of it up in its foil before throwing it away.
So many people throw around terms such as "grass-fed", "organic", et al nowadays. It doesn't mean a lot to me when the price is too high, the quality is over-exaggerated, the execution is sloppy, and the grease dripping off of my already mediocre burger is congealing into a Crisco-like substance on the foil it came wrapped in. I can only imagine how that's coating my arteries a day later!
They need to execute a better business plan, as their potential and company visions aren't shining through.
Wow was I disappointed by this place!
The eating space is open and clean but as most of the other Yelp reviewers have said here… Overpriced with mediocre food. Also – best milkshake in NYC? Ehhhhhh you could do better even at Shake Shack (which isn't saying too much).
I think the only thing I'd come back for is to grab a side of fries for a snack
BRGR should be better than it is. There were nine folks dining in, this evening. There was no line to the counter. Seventeen minutes later, I received my order.
The haystack was extremely greasy. I blot with a few napkins and wondered if the fryer was even on when these were dropped. The double patty wrapped in lettuce and horseradish sauce was begging for salt. The meat was cooked medium well. It was dry in taste. And greasy. As if the grease is going to soften up the dry cook temperature. The portions are petite. If there was an explosion of taste and texture and heat then it could be acceptable. But, it is not happening here. I had a Bass Ale. The counter person asked me to describe the taste of Bass because Stella Artois is like Budweiser…
Yea, there is no taste profile anywhere.
