  1. It's tricky to find an affordable lunch on this side of town, so Corner Cafe really hits the spot. $6 for a salad with 6 toppings – fresh veggies in generous portions.  Not sure when lunchtime prices end, but I've come in at 3pm & gotten that special.

There are a handful of tables for chillin, but nobody seems to hang here long so I've never had a problem finding a seat.  The street side nook is perfect for people watching.  Colorful regulars make for a casually pleasant nosh.  Oh – and there's a bathroom, score.

Service is prompt and nowhere close to mean, but I'm not trying to get a bagel with butter at 8:50AM on a workday…ya feel me?

  2. Came here for a simple salad.  Where is the sanitation grade, I ask you?  I didn't see one posted at all.  Price wasn't too bad though it was cramped & I didn't like having no space for myself to eat my lunch.

Other than those things, it was okay overall.  If I was in the area, I might return.

  3. To jump start my morning on a weekday, my dwindling interest in the painstaking slow search for an uplifting breakfast continues.  The Corner Cafe literally sits on the corner of 24th Street and Sixth Avenue in Chelsea.

One banana $0.75 and one Cranberry muffin $2.00 (without sales tax charged to my bill) was a very economical but fulfilling meal.  The muffin was very fresh, moist and soft.  Staff is inattentive when taking orders as customers queue up, but attentive mainly to serving orders to fulfillment as one is only interested in attaining money.  Plenty of bagels and prepared hot breakfast platters are readily available.

  4. I'm updating my review to reiterate my love for this pls and their bagels. I don't understand the low stars. Their bagels are amaze-balls and they are literally the size of softballs. Always fresh, doughy and amazing. Sorry but I think they are better than murray's quality-wise and for overall experience.

Also their "veggie" tuna is fantastic. I'm not sure what is in it as obviously it is not vegetarian because it is tuna, and I think the veggies in it mainly are carrot and celery but it is soooo good and get it on a bagel of course!!

I love their coffee too, it is standard deli coffee but fresh hot and never burnt.

  5. Corner Cafe's salads are the best value I've yet to find in Manhattan. Bold statement, I know, but where else can you get your choice of lettuce (spinach, mixed greens, regular iceberg, and maybe arugula?) and 5 toppings for less than $6?! Also, very important to note: there is NO EXTRA CHARGE for avocado and hard boiled eggs. NO EXTRA CHARGE! Amazing!

The bagels here are good as well. They're made on the premises so if you come in the morning they most likely will still be hot. I've come around 9pm and find they're already refilling the bins. There is a nice selection of spreads- tofu vegie cc, for example. Great for the vegans, terrible for the penny pinchers. A flagel & low fat cc goes for $4 and change. If possible, just get the bagels here and find your cream cheeses elsewhere. The tuna salad is astronomically high- also pass on this.

Definitely pass on the pizza here: I've tried their regular and specialty slices and neither are worth the money. For a regular, go to Two Brothers up the street. For a specialty slice/ anything other than regular, go to Bella Napoli around the corner on 7th between 24th and 25th.

Seating: several tables, place can probably seat 20 people, but it fills up quickly during breakfast and lunch. Don't bank on dining in.

Lastly, they take cc including Amex, and there's no minimum 🙂

  6. We got breakfast here this morning at 10am before heading to Penn Station. Like others have stated, the employees are rude. There are different ordering stations- a station for ordering sandwiches, one for bagels, etc. I was standing in front of the sign to order bagels and a guy asked who is next. Then I tried to order as all my other friends had ordered already and he asked who was next. Although he didn't seem busy he told me he couldn't take a bagel order and only can take a sandwich order. I waited and then a man took my bagel order of a bagel with egg, feta, spinach and tomato. They were out of sesame seed bagels and he seemed annoyed when I asked him what type of bagels they had left. After placing the order it is confusing whether you wait for your order or go down and pay at the cashier. I went and paid the cashiers who were also not friendly. After pacing back and forth and not being sure whether the cashiers or bagel man would be giving me my food, the bagel man put his arm out for someone to grab the bagel wrapped in foil which I did. It came to $4.08. I felt like a bother asking for napkins which are behind the cashiers. There were no open tables so I ate on the train. My bagel was good and fresh and there were many more food options than Starbucks.

  7. Yikes! Wish I circled around the block in search of ANYTHING better than this overpriced and unfriendly cafe.

Sometimes my hunger leads me to questionable food choices. It's usually greasy dollar slices, but every so often it's unpleasant delis such as this one.

I actually like running to my bodega for my snack fix, as it's quick, cheap and efficient. Not this place. It's incredibly overpriced. After paying for my lunch, i waiting 5 minutes (no line) to receive my bagel. I asked two employees about it. Eventually a third handed me my order with a loud grunt. Geez, sorry to be a paying customer!

They have unusual bagel flavors which adds a star. Waffle-flavored bagel? Yes please. Regardless, a bagel with cream cheese will run you $2.50. Plus tax. Minus a smile.

  8. This place is just 'meh' for me. Of all the places to eat in Chelsea area. But I do love iced hazelnut coffee and it didn't disappoint here. Great for a grab n go drink or pastry but not for much else!
