I asks the cashier for some suggestions and that didn't go down very well. I couldn't speak to the guy behind the counter about what I wanted! I didn't want them to serve me and it end up not being what I wanted. I told him I wanted hummus and some side. I didn't get any meat of falafel's. I got hummus and rice and a pita and that was about 5 bucks! Not bad since I had enough for two days! Hummus last a while so I decided this was the best. I still like my spot on 42nd street; better service, better side choice, looks more cleaner and fresh food! The humus and rice wasn't that bad BUT rice was bland. I needed the famous cucumber, mint, parley, and delicious flavor a with cous cous side (not sold here).
Overall I wasn't that happen! Couldn't went to 55 Fulton and got more for my money and options!
Not a fan!
Food is important. Money is important. So if you don't have to, don't waste your money on bad food. The falafel at Chickpea is terrible. Dry, mealy, and lacking flavor. I expected so much more considering their locations around the city. Their hummus on the other hand is quite good considering it's a chain establishment. Guac is also passable. Overall, with Roti around the block and Hummus and Pita Co. so close, I can't imagine why you'd come here, but if your stuck focus on their hummus and avoid those baked green lumps.
Blaugh! Worst falafel I have ever tasted. I do not say this lightly. Chickpea's falafel – crumby, flavorless, way too dense, and cold – just confirms the idea that things meant to be deep-fried need to stay deep-fried (another example: Baked Lays potato chips? madness).
I got a hummus plate. The hummus looked great, but other than texturally, it was barely recognizable as hummus. Even the tahini plopped on top couldn't save it. The pita that comes with the hummus plate was really a spongy, fully-leavened bread in a pita shape. 🙁
Lunch rush, about 1pm, was surprisingly not too bad. Not returning here for chickpea-related foods though – try Alfanoose nearby, instead, for falafel. Chickpea also has a breakfast counter in the morning, but the wait is a bit long – go to Jubilee instead for basic egg sandwiches.
I kept passing by this place. I never knew what this place serves. So finally I went to this place for lunch with my co-workers.
This place serves Mediterranean food. I decided to order the falafel wrap. It tastes pretty good. You create your own wrap with vegetables such as carrots, chickpeas, red onions, and cucumbers. I like the hummus. They prepare a good size wrap.
The location makes it ideal for people on the go. I found the service quick. Friendly service from the staff makes the atmosphere more pleasant. The place looks clean. The seating area feels spacious.
I like the wall decoration: Very hip and classy. I will recommend this place to everyone.
