  1. such a cute place with a lot of energy. an interesting mix of chatty regulars and quiet locals and tepid new comers… all the fix'ns needed to make this place the perfect, quintessential city cafe.

the food menu is concise but offers enough variety for many types of food sensitive consumers! the staff is skilled and cheery and accommodating. prices feel high for the area but this business is among growing number of places that help neighborhood residents (former resident in my case) come out and mingle in the sunshine. there are only so many friendships one can strike up at the local laundromat…

overall: solid spot for working at home on a computer. solid spot for brunch without too much pomp & circumstance. solid lazy afternoon place to relax. solid spot for friendly chats or one-person book clubs 😉

ps: speaking of cool spots, my meal was spot on! yummy and well cooked and just the right warmer-than-room-temp-but-not-cold temperature. perfectly comforting and home-cooked fancy yummy. i ordered the almond winter spice (this chai flavor) latte & the bratwurst broccoli rabe frittata (sans dairy, sans gluten.)

  2. I went back to Blessings this week and was impressed with the changes they've made in such a relatively short amount of time. They've moved the grill area to the back which also seemed to allow them the space to fix the ventilation issues. This is a bold move given that it dug into prime seating space, but I think it's gonna pay off in the long run. Service also was much faster and everyone was super attentive. Granted, I went on a weekday and it was pretty empty but still, it would have been pretty easy to forget about me. When I was finished there was someone there to help me bus my table (which truly wasn't necessary but very very much appreciated because well…honestly, I'm a klutz) right away.

The rotating menu remains tasty and seasonally responsive. I enjoyed the avocado-cucumber with goat cheese toast. It was light, fresh and surprisingly filing. Also, the vinaigrette on the greens was kind of addicting. Please tell me it's freshly made. Please oh please oh please. Because it was one of those little things that goes a long way. I do still wish for a more robust/varied menu but hey that's my opinion right? If I care that much I should probably open my own restaurant right? 🙂 And the coffee remains a perfect stable. All in all, Blessings is making a steady rise and I'm glad I gave it another go!

  3. Glad we found this neighborhood nook of an eatery. My family and I were looking for a place to have breakfast before our long drive back to MD. This is such a cute little place. Very earthy looking with wooden tables and plants surrounding. Seems like their menu changes changes daily as I was looking to have something in which I saw on another Yelp review and they did not have it.  I was happy with our order as I had the Mushroom Frittata-cooked well done and the side of greens was a nice addition, My daughter had the tuna melt- she enjoyed it and my brother had the breakfast platter which came with moist delicious scrambled eggs, turkey bacon, arugula greens, breakfast potatoes and toast. We all enjoyed our meal.  Nothing fancy but did it's job. Check them out of your in the area.

  4. Food and coffee = So good.
I rarely like some coffee shops espresso, but this place doesn't have that problem.
I got the shakeratto with whole milk, it was so good I ordered another to go.
I also got the breakfast sandwich with turkey sausage and fried egg. Almost got another sandwich because I enjoyed it so much.
The place was a little small to find a seat to eat with my two friends, but we made room.
The staff is amazing and welcoming.
I'll definitely be back when I'm in NY again!

  5. So upset it took my this long to stop by such a wonderful breakfast spot.

We showed up at 1 on a Saturday and were still able to get a table outside, which is amazing. There was the requisite music being played in the front and both the veggie frittata and my avocado and sour dough toast with egg were great. Both were huge servings and I could barely finish the toast, but it was great.

The cappuccino and chai latte were both a bit sweet/milky for our tastes, but the process are good and the sizes huge. I'll have to get mine to go next time since it took my long after eating to down my chai!

The order & pay when you get in system is sort of a relief and makes the rest of your time there less rushed and more casual. I'm definitely looking forward to go back soon.

  6. The place was fun. The food was good also. The curry was really interesting and original. I recommend to try this meal for brunch!

  7. I LOVE Blessings. Their brunch food options are SO good. They have pastrami salmon they put on toast, omelettes, etc. and my boyfriend is obsessed with it. Their coffee is decent and there's a lot more seating than you'd assume from the outside of the place. The staff is super friendly. They sometimes have live music, which I'm not crazy about, but a lot of people are. They also have a coffee + bagel deal on weekday mornings which I appreciate.

This is a great neighborhood spot and I hope it sticks around for a long while!

  8. The food here is absolutely delicious. It was super crowded when we got here which in turn meant our food took forever to get to us but by the time we got it it was definitely with it.

It's very much a hipster spot which meant a lot of strange things such as getting your own utensils, getting on line to order and seating yourself. However, everyone was very nice and accommodating and it had a pretty friendly atmosphere. I would recommend a friend to go for brunch but don't come with your coat on because you WILL leave smelling like food.
