  1. I live 5 minutes from here, noticed the new place as I was walking home from the bus stop.  Istanbul Borek & Kebab has high ceilings, everything is new, they have a bakery on the side of the restaurant and one flat screen TV on the wall.  All the servers are very nice and make sure everything is enjoyable.  The food is good here, I am in love with the Patlican Salatasi (smoked eggplant, green and red peppers, fresh dill, fresh herbs, garlic, olive oil, lemon juice and seasonings) that I sometimes buy it on my way home from work to enjoy at home (and some baklava for dessert!).  I have had the Adana (seasoned and char-grilled ground lamb on skewers) twice, and both were very good.  The plates come with salad, rice, half a roasted tomato and a long green pepper.  The Izgara Kofte (seasoned ground meat patties) was also very good, a lot more flavorful than the chicken that my boyfriend had (chicken wasn't bad either!)  This is my go-to spot whenever I feel too lazy to cook and want a nice meal nearby.

  2. Istanbul Borek is a type of restaurant that lives up to its hype and serves each one of its customers one of a kind breakfast experience. Istanbul Borek is the Holy Grail of borek spots in the Tri State area. The Cliffside Park restaurant is the authority in boreks and pastries. The restaurants breakfast menu is impressive and offers a variety of choices what consists of a traditional turkish breakfast. Their breakfast platters come with several cheese types scrambled eggs and freshly made pastries. The key element in a Turkish breakfast is the bread and this places bread is one of a kind. The bread is made on premises every morning. We tried the meat borek, spinach and their potato borek and they were all crispy hot and not too oily which was amazing. They have tons of desserts in the front display that changes daily. Great pastries and dessert but what was even better was their prices and the bill. This was the lightest bill we picked up around town comparing to other breakfast spots we've been in, which was the best bang for the buck. Istanbul Borek is the best borek spot in the tri state area period.

  3. A large dining room, good lighting and a clean restroom makes this place a pretty good spot for a midsize to large party.

The food is pretty clean and over all pretty good. Maybe it's because I eat Turkish food too much but it's not something I will crave or go out of my way to try. It's not an exciting trip to the place but I'm never disappointed either.

Nothing on the menu is not worth a try and the service is pretty standard so it won't be a hassle to get their attention or help.

I just wish they had Turkish ravioli

  4. Best breakfast spot I've ever been too!!! Very modern, very clean, service was amazing and the food was even better. Started off with the Su Borek, it was cooked to perfection full of cheesy goodness. Then had the Sujuk and pastrami omelette, that was good but I'd probably order the omelette with tomatoes next time. On my final day of this trip I'm going to go back and stock up on their simit and baklava.

  5. This place blew my mind. The flavors of the dishes my roommate order were insane! I love everything. I had chicken and veggies and it was very fresh and the chicken was cooked to perfection! When I came here was the first time I had baklava and ever since there isn't a week I got without it. This place is delicious. Always clean, always fresh, and amazing service, nothing I can explain. Well maybe one word #family. I was treated as if I was coming into their home! Delicious.

  6. The food is not what it once was — and we are disappointed following our two most recent trips.

The lahmacun and patlican saltasi (smoked eggplant) are still very good but the adana kebab and calamari were awful.  The calamari were deep fried to death and chewy — not what Turkish calamari is all about.  Even the mayo sauce that goes with was thin and tasteless.  The Adana was grisly and rubbery — like it was previously cooked, then frozen and reheated — not ground and grilled fresh. The pide is still good and I like the space a lot — just don't trust all of the menu anymore.  Also, a large staff turnaround is evident and a quiet (read: empty) room at dinner time on a Friday night, in a foodie town,  is never a good sign.
