B London

“Benedicta, spoke of her opening of B London, it has been nothing but a delight to bring such a much needed place to the South end of Montclair.”

“Would have preferred maple syrup over the little container of "syrup" we got.”

“The portion sizes are that of a home cooked meal, so you will not be leaving stuffed.”

  1. I don't know Montclair but I certainly know a good breakfast so my beau and I stumbled into this place famished and partook in some awesome breakfast foods. It was average breakfast fare: toast, jam, bacon, eggs, and home fries. However, each thing was executed perfectly (especially the eggs that were fluffy and scrambled) and the home fries were soft yet crispy and certainly satisfied a breakfast craving.

I was surprised to see such an extensive menu; they also serve lunch (sandwiches and such) and dinner (even fresh fish!)
I can't speak to any other foods besides breakfast but if you're in search of breakfast and are in the area, this is a pretty solid spot!

  2. This was a nice diner-esque spot that is welcome addidition to the area since the Harris diner, that I enjoyed is no longer around. The owner is very friendly and offers a large menu of brunch and breakfast advertised as being served all day as well as lunch and dinner. I can say that the breakfast staples are all in check here, the French toast was nice and fluffy as was the pancakes which come in many varieties including apple cinnamon which has apple slices in it and of course the favorite blueberry and more. My omelette was good as were the home fries. Service was good. The prices are a toss up for what's offered I'm not sure it matches up to the other Monclair breakfast heavy hitters like 'The corner', but certainly is better than the overrated spots like 'Raymonds'. With consistency and variety I think this place is good and will potentially continue to be.

  3. Well this is a new place that just opened up in south end Montclair. The woman who owns it is from London so the menu is British themed but with standard food like burgers, sandwiches, and omelets. I went for brunch and used a groupon so that was a great deal.

I got the Texas French toast with berries and a side of eggs. The French toast itself was good but basic, nice with the berries but nothing fancy. I was let down a lot by the maple syrup which tasted like it was not pure maple but had corn syrup in it and ever since I was a kid I've eaten pure maple syrup so I'm kind of picky about it because I can taste the difference. The eggs were supposed to be poached which they said was possible but when I got them I think they were not really poached and were rather greasy. I also tried some of the special apple pancake which was pretty good! The omelet with bacon I tasted was also not bad. Service could have been a bit better as we waited about 10 min just to get water.

Overall the food here is basic like a diner but not bad, definitely better than a place like brownstone diner which has rave reviews. I would eat here again especially to try the dinner or lunch which rotates and includes fresh fish!
I would give it an extra half star if I could.

  4. A welcome addition to Montclair South End.

A step above the typical diner, but I don't think it's fair to compare it to other established Montclair cafes such as The Corner, given the difference in price point and portion size (cheaper and bigger @ B London).

We came to try out lunch and the place was very quiet. A friendly waitress took our order. Tried the fish and chips and a burger. Not the best we have ever had, but not terrible either as some other reviews would have you believe. For the price point (most lunch entrees hovering around the $10 mark) in Montclair, what we got was decent.

We received our food within 10-15 mins, but again we were the only dine-in patrons there that afternoon.

Will try out breakfast in the future, to see if we encounter the same issues as others.

This restaurant had a Groupon deal going and you can get a voucher for them at that obviously named restaurant website. Their voucher has very little restrictions unlike many other restaurants listed on the website.

  5. I came from Jersey City, to Montclair without a place to eat, and found myself in this New hidden Jewel.

How could Kieron B give this place three stars? (he has one review let's forgive him)

Benedicta Sisti brings her British flair to the states with the opening of B London in the South End of Montclair. The cooking is poised and direct. I ordered the scrambled eggs and home fries toast. Everything cooked to perfection. Benedicta served everything with a smile.

Thank you for an amazing experience. I will be back!
