  1. Place has made some improvements but none have been consistent enough for me to improve my review (below).
They always ALWAYS get something with my order wrong.  I'm not even ordering complicated things and can't list all the ways that this place continues to blow it, but I keep going back because it's so close to my house.
They should go check out Park Ave. Deli in RVC and see watch how those guys work.

The only reason I find myself coming here is because I live a block away. Every time I go in there, I am ashamed of myself because I always walk out saying, "I'm never coming back to this place again."  The place is clean, the food is good, and the prices are moderate but the service is horrifying.  Nearly every time I go in there, I leave with a story of how forgetful, slow, or downright rude the counter people can be– it has actually become a source of entertainment for me how bad it is.  You cross your fingers waiting in line hoping to get the one guy who actually cares to get your order right or won't roll his eyes if you ask for something other than a plain bagel.  Unfortunately, they are not entirely to blame.  This place suffers from poor management.  The only reason this place exists is because it's the only place to eat in East Rockaway.  I wish this town could do a little better, or the owners would step up and burn a calorie for their customers.

  2. I'm going to say the same add most other people and maybe the current owner will get the trend.

The food is good I mean it's just bagels and breakfast burritos, and hero's but it's not bad.

THE PASTRIES are not so good, the Danish are not fresh last two times I got them, Kaiser roll for sandwich not fresh, and muffin wasn't that good and moist.

But the service the times out of for hasn't been all that good.

One time I asked for a sandwich for breakfast so the girl said I would have to wait and didn't seem like she was all that happy to make it. I don't know names but it was a young black girl. She asked me for my order three times got it wrong and when it was all done I asked where my eggs were and she said oh let me out that in.

Three other time today the guy wad either new our also want in a good mood and was moving slow with no customers in the place kept saying one second one second and took him long enough to put in my order for breakfast burrito. Older Hispanic guy.

And the other tine on father's day I asked for one piece of a rainbow cookie. So the lady comes up to scary might have been the owner says something and say we usually way then but here you go. Then he starts asking me questions. " who is this little piece for" I say my son. He asks" where is your son" I say in the car with the wife. He says okay well happy father's day make sure you give him a kiss" and he was saying all this with like a smirk and add if I didn't even have a son. So I came with him today.

But one more bad experience and I'm going to the next closest spot. Every place has good bacteria as long as they deliver then same day our bake them in house.

Prices aren't cheap enough to stick around for either.

  3. Grabbed a quick bite to eat here the other day. The store was really clean and was recently remodeled due to damage from Superstorm Sandy. The sandwiches are your typical deli style, but would not make me make a special trip back just to get one.

The staff was friendly and for prices, I felt that compared to other Deli's in the area this place is a little on the expensive side.

  4. Overall rating: closer to a 3.5

I've popped in a few times for a late breakfast, or lunch, or brunch-ish.

The actual menu this place has is huge, as far as typical bagel places I know; it's more like a bagel-store-deli.  They have paninis, sandwiches, wraps and of course, bagels.

I've had one or two of the paninis and sandwiches and overall I'd say they're decent.  The bagels are large and there's a huge assortment as long as you don't catch them towards the end of the afternoon.  The bagels as well I'd argue to be decent.

The place gets very busy. What I would've expected to be like a 5-10 minute stop might turn into 20+ on a busy hour.  From what I've seen, it just comes down to it taking so long to finish such large orders that some people have, especially if they have a hot food order coming out of the kitchen.  So, I'd advise you anticipate a longer-than-expected wait time if you're going at peak breakfast or lunch hours.

From my own experience, I wouldn't say that calling in your order ahead of time makes it that much faster.  On more than one occasion, I've arrived about 15 minutes after placing my order and once I'm at the counter identifying my pick-up order that's when they start to make it.  Again, this has been during peak hours so I don't know how far down the list of priorities pick-up orders get dropped.

Lastly, deliveries are kind of a huge hit or miss.  I've called some orders and have been told they don't have a delivery driver so that plan kind of flew out the window.  On the occasions there is a delivery driver, it doesn't typically arrive that quickly either.  I'd estimate a solid 45 minute wait between order time and arrival time.  Although that's typical of most restaurant orders, I only think it very long given the average time a bagel or cold sandwich order should take to prepare.

Nevertheless, I still come back because the food is still decent.  I just get mad at myself for getting there at the same time as everyone else.
