  1. Since there are no half stars I have to lean closer to three. This place is very cute and has tons of character for a coffee shop. The staff was very attentive and the barista made me a mean, flavorfully frothy cappuccino.

My average rating comes from an error in my sandwiches ordered when I was the only customer in the store at the time. They were apologetic and replaced my sandwich to what I actually ordered. I didn't care for the taste of the mayo but overall my smoked turkey bacon BLT was fine.

The prices here were reasonable and you are best getting here on foot since its on a residential block with several driveways. I would recommend this place to chillax and get a good cup of java.

They also get brownie points for mistaking me for a first year student of Kingsborough, when I have been out of college for over a decade. *big cheese*

  2. To be honest, when I saw this place pop up on Yelp with only one dollar sign $, I thought it sounded too good to be true. After looking at the menu I was actually impressed at the pricing for their items and that most things came with fries (which is awesome.)

The food was also delicious, I'll give them that. Definitely worth their respective prices. Now let me talk about why I decided to only give two stars- I'm Asian and I came here with a white person. When our server, who appeared to have some sort of european (?) accent came to our table, he would only look at the white person at the table the entire time we ordered even though we are all very capable of speaking English. While we were waiting for our food, he came by to ask if we'd like to try their soup. Correction, he came by to ask my white friend if we'd like to try their soup, once again not looking at me at all. This alone wouldn't warrant me giving them less stars, but here's where their rating dropped significantly for me:

I asked for a glass of water when I sat down, and half way through our meal my friend also asked for a glass of water. When our bill came, I noticed that it had "1 bottled water" charged for $1.50. I asked him what that meant, as we did have 2 glasses of water total but I wasn't told it would be "bottled water" or that there'd be a charge, being that it did NOT come in a bottle. He told us "yes, it's bottled water. I split it up for you two." Um… So if my friend hadn't also asked for a glass of water also half way through the meal, I would've been charged for 1 bottle and only gotten half a bottle of water worth? How does this system even work? There was no communication about this and I'm not about to gripe about $1.50 for water with this server, but I hate being deceived or ripped off.

Overall, sure, come for the food. But if you're not white and don't enjoy being deceived, probably don't come.
