If you want a great cup of coffee look no further.
No seriously, if you're searching for coffee right now and stumble upon this review, just stop looking.
Having grown up in a nearby town, my buddies and I used to frequent the RCC in our late teens when we thought it was cool to come to Ridgewood and walk the strip; smh, we were such tools back then. At the time S-bucks was a fairly new thing and was a more of a popular place than RCC, but we knew which place had the better coffee/drinks.
Sure, they've changed ownership since then, but In the 17+ years I've been coming here, one important thing about this place has not changed, they make a damn good cup of coffee and really great coffee beverages. There was a time I used to love their mixed cafe beverages, but nowadays I'm all about their high quality coffee.
The one thing that has changed, is they basically amped up everything; the cold brew coffee in the window is a nice touch! Plus, the latte art is somthing most people can appreciate.
I try to stop in here everytime I'm in Ridgewood.
I love love love local coffee shops. This spot gets a 5 because 1) they have great service 2) excellent selection of coffee drinks and 3) it's really good! I really enjoy the almond joy with almond milk – they barista's there know how to make very good lattes and latte art as well. Whenever I'm in the area I make it a point to get a coffee here, even if I just had a coffee. Keep up the great business!
For suburban millennials into hipsterism, tight quarters and cold brew with plenty of cash to spend on incidentals (like coffee) — this is your kind of place.
I like the occasional macchiato or expresso here and the cold brew is alright, but like other reviewers note, I think the coffee around the corner at Bulldog (and their ambience) suits me better.
Having just returned from California where cold brew machines are standard fare in Google-like workplaces, it is hard for me to get excited about cold brew coffee chemistry on Ridgewood Avenue.
Now if this were Seattle ……
Even though this place has some high prices for some items, it is worth the money.
The workers are all very friendly. If you want to try something new, they make solid recommendations.
I really enjoy the iced coffee, lattes, frozen Joe, and hot chocolate.
I haven't tried their pastries in a while, but I plan to soon.
Going to put this back down to a 3, mostly since I think the coffee is better at Bulldog and the pastries/other stuff are better at Sook and Ridgewood coffee company. Cool place though. Good late/flat white.
A little pricey, but a great local coffee shop! They have some adventurous espresso drinks, moreso than Starbucks. If you're strolling down Ridgewood Ave. stop by here instead of a chain and you'll be pleased you did.
Before this review gets started let me just say: ALMOND JOY LATTE. I could end the review there because if you are a fan of coconut (and really even if you aren't) this is all you need to order here.
The ridgewood coffee company is the type of place you walk in and immediately know that the staff and ownership know what they are doing regarding coffee; and seem to like the art of brewing also. It is a neighborhood favorite and with good reason. They have a pretty extensive menu of different coffees and brewing methods: Drip, cold brew, the whole nine yards. I am not a coffee expert so I will not delve in a realm of things I do not know about- just understand that the coffee made here is of a very high quality.
Now back to the best coffee drink I have ever had. The almond joy latte. What a wonderful, creamy, flavorful, fragrant concoction they have come up with here. It is like eating an almond joy, while at the same time downing a fresh espresso, while….ill just stop myself there. Explaining it does it no justice. You must go try it yourselves as soon as you can!
For a place in the suburbs, it is very good! We got the cappuccino and tea, with a Balthazar's almond croissant. Definitely enjoyed everything but will not travel just for their coffee. If we are in the area of passing by, will definitely stop in though!
The ambiance is cute and clean.
