This modern cafe features a wide selection of coffees and teas as well as a some food and pastries including paninis, soups, salads, macarons, brownies, and slices of cake. There are are at least two dozen options of hot and iced coffees which should satisfy any coffee aficionado while opening up the eyes of coffee novices like myself.
I had a superb americano. It didn't have the slightest hint of bitterness. It was a very smooth and moderate roast. It was so pleasant that I didn't add any milk or sugar. I also split the Farmer's Market sandwich which was a vegetarian wrap with spinach and cheese. It was pressed, so it had a nice little char.
I liked that outlets with conventional three prong and USB inputs were available throughout the cafe. This accessibility made it convenient to charge mobile devices. The staff was also delightful.
Sweet & Savory deserves four and a half stars.
Fell in love with this place last night. I found this cafe doing a search of what's around me, and got sold on the mac+cheese and coffee drink pictures. Their interior with turquoise walls and some comfy couches looked like a great place to spend a relaxing evening.
They change their daily menu, which to me is a good and a bad thing- you can always go and get a completely new experience, but you can also go and not find the menu item that you love. Luckily, we happened to go on a special event night celebrating a Bahama holiday, which had a side of macaroni pie (thus got the mac+cheese I was looking for). We got jerk chicken with rice/beans and cole slaw, with the Mac pie as well. All were good and tasty.
For drinks, I was so torn between a nutella latte, frozen hot cocoa, and the brownie frappe, but went with the frappe. BEST CHOICE IVE EVER MADE. What I love about this cafe is they use real ingredients (ie actual brownies) to blend into it to get the real flavor, not just some fake flavoring syrup. It couldn't have tasted more like a brownie sundae in liquid form- amazing – we talked about it all night and will be back again for it shortly. Since that was enough chocolate for me, I didn't get any of their pastries, but they had a ton of options Id like to try (lava cake, cupcakes, cookies etc).
As if I wasn't sold enough, this family-owned small business had the friendliest family / vibe I've ever seen. The owner sat down to introduce himself, and the other owner told us all about their Sunday brunch (which has good brunch options but also live jazz music!). Talk about making you feel welcome and like they want to know their customers.
Can't wait to return! But when I do, that brownie frappe is an already-made decision :p
Mural states " More than just great coffee"., I absolutely agree. This is my first time visiting since their grand opening ten ( 10 ) weeks ago. Atmosphere and decor makes you feel like you are in another country. Musical selection are very inviting. What I love the most about Sweet & Savory Cafe. Theirs absolutely no ANIMAL products. Menu never the same. I ordered soup: Soulfood ( chicken, yams & greens)., coffee. Also, Mary had a little lamb. Order-to-go: Green Eye Coffee. Every place I go., always check their restrooms, and it's beautiful. The owner did an excellent job on her very own DIY projects for the bathroom as well as the entire Cafe.
Nice quaint establishment. The food food was fresh and flavorful. I enjoyed the warm fresh pastries. Great place for a cozy Sunday brunch, not to mention the live jazz band the provided soothing sounds.
Great place right where we needed one in Baldwin. It's clean, inviting, and makes a great cup of fancy coffee. I've been there twice now, once getting an iced caramel latte and later getting a pineapple infused iced green tea. Both were great. They have many syrups to add to your coffees, but it's not listed on the menu- so just ask!
It's family run, which is nice to see- everyone is friendly and inviting, and you can hang out for however long. It's also pretty quiet and a great place to catch up with someone or read.
I've passed Sweet and Savory a few times now. Living in Baldwin, I was very happy to see a small coffee shop open up. I thought I'd spend some time there reading and enjoying a quiet weekend afternoon. I had high hopes. Unfortunately, I think I set my expectations a bit high.
My absolute favorite aspect of the business is the decor. It's rare that I can so completely fall in love with a place. It's beautifully decorated and immediately makes you feel comfortable and at home. They even have some unique table pieces. The table I sat at had bicycle pedals underneath it.
I went in to enjoy a latte, maybe a bite to eat, and read a good book. I ordered the latte, but unfortunately they don't have food until noon. That's ok; I asked them if they make their pastries there or if they have them brought in. They said they make it there. I ordered a chocolate chip cookie.
The trouble started after I ordered. They put my latte in a to go cup. It's a small annoyance, but if I was never asked if I wanted it to go or to stay. I wanted to stay, but having it put in a to go cup is like asking me to go. It might have been unintentional, but it's just not good customer service.
I sit down and open the lid of the cup and what do I find? A cappuccino. Again, a very small annoyance, but I ordered a latte. I didn't want a cappuccino. I don't want the foam. What's worse is that the cup was at least 1/3 foam. It looked and tasted like a McDonalds Cappuccino. I don't want to think that this beautiful coffee shop has McDonalds like standards for their coffee, but I was starting to have doubts.
I take the cookie out of the paper sleeve. The chocolate chip cookie had cinnamon. Why ruin a good cookie with cinnamon? The dough and chocolate chips are why you eat a chocolate chip cookie. The cinnamon was all i could taste when biting into it. May just be an issue of preference, but what really was the crime of all crimes was the fact that the cookie was crumbly. That I just cannot forgive. A chocolate chip cookie should be soft and chewy or hard and crunchy. No one likes a crumbly cookie. It screams stale.
I want to give Sweet and Savory another chance. I hope next time I go I'll have a better experience. A legit coffee shop should know the difference between a cappuccino and a latte, they should have fresh cookies, and there should be a better level of customer service.
I'm obsessed with finding the best coffee shops on the island. It's my mission in life. (Ok maybe not)
I love the decor, it's a chic vintage look. Great seating, small + cozy. They have a bunch of drinks to choose from along with great dessert options.
I kept it simple and ordered an iced coffee. My friend ordered a banana bread and she says it was the best she's ever had. It comes out on a cute little plate. Presentation is great.
I'll be back, of course.
