Very cute place! I had a spinach, goat cheese, mushroom and basil crepe and it was delicious. Good texture and filling was not so heavy and just right. I also had a taste of my friends Spinach, smoked salmon and cream cheese which was delicious too. I literally devoured mine. I would definitely come back. Their menu was extensive and lots to choose from. I just wish they dressed up out plates more…it was so boring but I was happy it tasted delish!
Ordered a crepe with nutella, banana and strawberries… Was disappointed. Crepe was thin and didn't taste that great. Not happy that they used strawberry jam. For the amount of money, the crepe could have been better. Also ordered a cheesecake from the discount display (day old delicacies), which should be discounted, but when I got home I noticed I paid full price! Won't be back anytime soon.
Pleased to bump La Crepe up another star now that I've been back to visit a few times since my last review.
Only a few years ago it seemed impossible that the Movie City 5 shopping center would ever transition away from the blight it had become on East Brunswick. Save for a few mainstays like Brothers Pizza, this strip mall seemed doomed to a perma-ghetto status. But it has since been making a slow and steady comeback, and La Crepe may very well be the best and biggest risk an East Brunswick business has undertaken in many years — especially given the location.
Upon entry you are greeted to a bright and spacious room filled with delicious smells and delectable pastries, and plenty of table seating for those who wish to dine in. And while I was not a huge fan of the crepes in the past, I must admit that I'm really picky about such things, and it may just be me. Pastries and the like, well, that's another story. They are excellent here. And there are plenty of savory things to choose from as well, including these new little potato cakes filled with caramelized onion. If you're feeling snacky, this is a great place to drop in. There's definitely something for everyone.
And big extra points for having a fresh juice bar! Despite being surrounded by a trillion calories worth of sweets, I was extremely pleased to find they also juice veggies to order. I'm certainly no health nut, but recent events have forced me to get back on the vegetable wagon. And since I was never good at eating my veggies, I've recently discovered that drinking them is not the joyless experience I thought it would be. In fact, juiced veggies are amazingly delicious. (I can't even believe I just said that, but it's true.)
Do note that in terms of veggies they currently only offer carrots, beets, and celery, but ask them to blend all three with an apple and you will have a drink that tastes as delicious as it looks.
The owner is also super-friendly and accommodating, as is all the waitstaff. It's really great to see another local business thriving amidst East Brunswick's sea of lame chain restaurants. Perhaps there is hope for this town after all.
Yummy savory breakfast crepes!! They're always willing to customize, so that's a big plus in my book. Good coffee and hospitable staff. Have also picked up various tarts and mini (sweet) pies for friends, and everything has been fresh and tasty.
We got one savory crepe and one sweet crepe. The savory one was feta, mushroom, and spinach and it tasted delicious. It wasn't too heavy and all the ingredients tasted clean and flavorful. The second one was the sweet banana, strawberry and Nutella and it was perfect. I was very pleased with service and food. I would recommend and come back!!
This place is such a hidden gem. If you're not on YELP or perhaps you're not from this area you might miss out. It's such a cute set up almost like a Paris cafe with awesome decor.
I got the apple tart with vanilla and it didn't disappoint at all but I would have liked if the apple tart was a bit warmer but I guess that was an error on my part in not asking for it to be warmed up.
This place is great and I would really recommend it whether you're in the area or not. I like to come to this place right after a good meal to have a nice dessert and I'm always pretty satisfied.
3.5 stars!
This is a nice little creperie in such a sad, empty strip mall. Hubby and I ate dessert here to celebrate 10 years of dating! I didn't find the cafe to be super 'French' or 'Parisian', but I did enjoy it!
We ordered crepes (nutella/fruit for me) and some chocolatey/peanut buttery for him. Service was great and we didn't have to wait too long for our crepes. They were melt in your mouth yummy!!! Seriously delicious.
They have other menu items for lunch/breakfast if crepes aren't your thing. I believe that they're only open for breakfast/lunch so call before heading over.
Unfortunately I had to demote some stars from this place after visiting there yesterday 3/5/14. Me and my mother went there for lunch so I ordered a Ham and cheese crepe and she ordered a cheese omelette. (She doesn't like her eggs runny, so she says cook them WELL.) So I have always known that they are more on the slower side when it comes to serving you but not a huge deal. But we placed our order and waited for our food. When we got our food my mom cuts her egg to see if it is runny and low abs behold it was. So she tells our waiter to cook it more. So the owner comes over and continuously argued with my mom that it was cheese but clearly it wasn't. So I'm eating my food and the owner comes over 2 other times to dissect my mother's omelette saying "look it's cheese, that's cheese" and my mom already said she didn't want it. I don't know why she thought that was necessary coming to us for a total of 3 times to argue that it was cheese… Like just make another egg or recook it? My mom would've eaten it if it was cooked better but the owner insisted that it was cheese and that turned us off from ever returning. She was not nice at all and whatever happened to the customer is always right?
