  1. This new restaurant seemed to had popped out of nowhere when I made plans for brunch with my best friend, I was looking for something really close by and here this place was. For starters I was unaware that this place had opened so I was surprised to see it when it came up in my search. I called to make a reservation to have brunch a few Sundays' ago but I was told they were booked, I was ready to find a new place but my friend stepped in and made the reservation online and just like that we had a table. I still told myself that there would be a wait once we actually got there but to my surprise we were seated right away.

The brunch menu and dinner menu are different but there were some dishes that we both really wanted that were only on the dinner menu so we had to go with something else, which was fine too. We ordered and shortly after that our drinks came out, great cocktails…music was playing, loved all the songs but it was very loud for brunch. My best friend and I could hardly hear each other which sucked, it felt like I was in a club. The food took awhile to come and it was warm not hot when it did come. But the food was very good. But I noticed something that bothered me, while eating I saw that sticker that you tend to find on produce was still on a piece of the bell pepper that was in my food. I did not let that take away from how good the food was but that's me…someone else may not have been so nice about it.

All in all I look forward to going back for dinner this time, and hopefully by then some changes to improve the experience would have been made. I love that there are more options in this area so it would be nice if this place did well. I'm rooting for you guys.

  2. When I visit places like this, I wish that Yelp would create a sixth star! Suede met and exceeded our expectations.

    Ambiance- 6 stars
    Service- 6 stars
Food & drink menu- 6 stars

We were going for brunch at another restaurant but had an hour long wait, the Suede suggestion quickly came up and we drove over. Our party of 7 was quickly seated and our waiter was the best. I think we had almost everything on the menu and it all tasted so delicious, we were thoroughly enjoying our experience, the drinks were made to perfection, the food was super tasty and well portioned and the background music kept us alive (Caribbean beats). With clean plates, full stomachs and smiles on our faces we left Suede gratified and satisfied.  The next time we're in Brooklyn we"ll be back again.

  3. The food at Suede is deelish! The ambiance is delightfully earthy, grown, and sexy. And the drinks are versatile.

Upon entering this well-known establishment, one may become confused. Why you ask; well because there's a host stand/podium but you can't really tell if it's a place to order take-out or to be seated. A couple of patrons asked this question when they arrived as did I. After figuring this out and waiting for a while, we were quickly seated on the upper level of this restaurant which was spacious and intimate with comfortable arm chairs that may have been too small. Yes, I'm pretty sure they were to small. So, comfy but small.
On to ordering and service. Quick, fast and in a hurry the food came. As did the drinks. We were fortunate to come here during Black-owned restaurant month which gave you the option for a prix-fixe dinner for just $30! This includes the appetizer, main course, and desert. On a regular day, this could easily total anywhere from at least $40 and up. I'd say that's a great discount! Seems like we had two waitresses and while it felt good to have so much attention, it was confusing at times.
I had the Branzino steamed fish that was topped with fresher than fresh (they probably have a garden out back) veggies and came with a side of rice. Yum, yum. I had the sticky wings too, which were more good than bad and to drink, di coco rum. Strong but enough coconut to cover the taste of the rum-Wray & Nephew.
Heard the staff sing, Happy Birthday Day (the Stevie Wonder version) a couple of times and they sang from their heart. Enough to make the birthday person enjoy it.
Good experience, lovely spot. Do go.

  4. Came back to try the brunch here again and I was very pleased. Me and my group ordered the chicken and waffles, the salmon, and the bake and saltfish. I also got a sorrel mimosa and the cornmeal porridge to start. Everyone enjoyed their meal. I was very pleased with my brunch this time around. That porridge was so good and bake and saltfish hit the spot. Service was good and attentive. Make reservations. I now approve this spot for brunch!

  5. This review has been a long time coming for restaurant.  First time I visited Suede was during their soft opening in which during that time I was blown away, and I was lucky enough to sample several dishes and signature cocktails.  My second time visiting was this past Saturday for dinner and once again they wow'd me the food, service, and presentation.  I know from the Yelp page you can see pictures of the space, but trust me it does it no justice.

This restaurant is rather far out for a person like myself that lives in Manhattan, but it is worth the commute.  I would definitely recommend making reservations to be on the safe side if you are wanting to go on the weekend.  I was there on what I thought was a busy evening, and one of the owners said it was a slower night.  The decor is something out of this world and I was blown away every time I looked up at the ceiling the the illuminating wall.  There are two levels to this space which reminds me of a loft setup.  They also have a garden area which I have not been able to experience, but I heard it a great setup as well.

Food that I have had and I enjoyed included:

    – Mango BBQ wings – they were not dry at all and I loved them
    – Creole Shrimp Pasta – large enough for two people to share
    – Waffles – ARE LIFE CHANGING AND MY FAV.  The syrup they come with is everything.  I am literally dreaming about them as I am typing this review.
    – Margaritas – Tasty 🙂
    – Oxtail Pizza – Delicious
    – Mac n' Cheese – It is extra cheese.

The service was great and personable, my glass was always full, and my table cleared properly.  I would recommend Suede for any type of event.  It's a great place to birthday dinners, family dinners, or a night out with your significant other.

  6. I have been dying to go here since i started yelping. And i finally got my chance and was not disappointed.

As soon as we walked in we noticed it was crowded on the inside but they seated us right in the back near the bar.

We tried the appetizers in which i wanted to see what the hoopla about the oxtail pizza was about. It seemed a bit overated from the people that i know who have had it.

The dinner though was very good. I had the jerk salmon and it came with collard greens and some other side that i cant remember but i enjoyed every bit of the food.

  7. I have heard lots of buzz about Suede and finally got to see what the hype was about. Now I understand why Suede is such a hotspot. I visited on a thursday night which was great because it was not crowded and we were immediately seated. Jamie, our waiter was awesome. His customer service was outstanding and he was attentive. I ordered the famous oxtail pizza and a side of mac and cheese. My date order the curry chicken. I was pleasantly surprised that our food came out in less than 7 min. Both of us were very pleased with our meals. Everything was tasty and seasoned to perfection!!! And that oxtail pizza is more than enough for one person. In fact, I just ate it as my entree. The absolute highlight of the evening was the drinks!! Lord have mercy!!! Suede does not skimp on the liquor thats for sure. I couldnt even finish my drink because I was buzzed about halfway in. Overall I had an excellent experience at Suede. The ambiance is sexy and I love the outdoor seating area. I cant wait to come back!!

  8. I finally made it to Suede and I was impressed!!!… I went on a Saturday afternoon after my daughter's dance recital… The wait for seating was barely a wait and we ended up getting a nice table on the second floor… It was a bit tight made more noticible with the waitresses trying to squeeze through the seats, brushing up coats and kocking purses down, like it was the best options but hey, you do what you got to do to make yourself feel skinny!

The food was good, I had the chicken and waffles and couldn't even finish it all… I didn't have any spirits this time around bjmut they sure looked like they tasted good… my daughter had the mango bbq chicken, it was good but I really thought the barbecue sauce would have a little essence of mango, but nope just mango slices on top…

The atmosphere was real upscale and they even had dress code provisions.  The servers were friendly and this place is up to date with technology- our order was taken on an Ipad and they even emailed us the receipt… talk about being Green. I had a great time and can't wait to go back, this place definitely had the boo lovin' vibe going on so I gots to check that out as well when I return…
