  1. I somewhat enjoy this chain. Well, I thought I did.

When did Popeye's become this bland? !

  2. People rave about fried chicken in Harlem even at Popeyes, so I came here specifically to try out their fried chicken. I was sorely disappointed. Drumsticks were OK, with a nice crispy exterior and fragrant, extremely moist and juicy dark meat inside. Thighs and breasts were a little overfried, and I had to pick off large globs of fried exterior. Breast meat can get a little tough as it sits.

As for the restaurant, the interior decor isn't much to look at and hard plastic chairs can hurt your butt after a while.

I guess if you're fine ordering just drumsticks, you'll enjoy it, but the other pieces suck.

  3. I'm alitlte upset with myself for ordering the chicken tenders. They really didn't look anything like the bone-in chickens i did see across the counter, but i was trying to be less messy during my feast on the D train home from 125th st. The batter they deep fried the tenders in was too light colored, and didn't really have that crumby consistency the regular fried chicken had.
What is up with the name POPEYE'S? Why were they hiding the word Popeye's, only using the P, and calling themselves Louisiana Kitchen? I want some deep fried Harlem 125st chicken. I know about the bullet proof windows already, I saw them when i was catching the bus over to Randall's to play softball. You can't sugarcoat this place with healthy food. Its not fair!
It's time for mom and pop shops to shine.

  4. If all you want is one chicken wing, then they'll sell you that. Mmm. Popeyes. it sure hits the spot. A little bit can go a long way here.

I had dinner at Popeyes for $3.24. This dinner consisted of a chicken biscuit (like KFC's chicken little from back in the day) and mashed potatoes. I really like the gravy with the little pieces of pork in it. Mmm pork. Iz spicy too.

This Popeyes is pretty busy but there is no real line for the registers. The people just crowd around and push against the bullet proof shield. If you're lucky, you'll be next. It's kind of like going to a bar but instead of dispensing beer or vodka they dish out white or dark meat. It's actually pretty orderly and the sass is harmless. Seating is always available and despite all the riff raff around, this Popeyes is really clean.

Oh yea they have door service too. Just pretend you're at the Ritz. Tipping is optional.
