Wings-N-Things

“Reasonably priced with a selection that extends beyond what you'd get at Popeyes, this gem in the dirt (and yes, I just called Hempstead dirt) is a treasure clove of flavor and mouth bursting amen.”

“Ribs, chicken, macaroni salad, potato salad, fries, biscuits, corn bread and rice and beans are delicious!”

“The location is in "the ghetto", so if you're a typical sheltered Long Island person who's afraid of the typical Hempstead folk just use the drive through.”

  1. I tried the wings, it is called Wings n Things afterall so its pretty obligatory. They were a bit small, not very meaty, not very crunchy actually either. I prefer a nice well coated batter thats fried to crisp perfection. The batter on these was scarce in some areas. The seasoning was also kind of bland, probably could have used a dash more salt.

They were edible but left me feeling half empty. Based on this I probably wouldnt want to explore the rest of their menu.

  2. I have been here several times. The restaurant serves fried chicken, ribs, beef ribs, and side dishes i.e corn bread, corn on the cob, fries, pies, etc.
This is a good place for take out and they always run specials i.e 2 pieces of chicken (leg & thigh) & a biscuit for $1.99
The dining area is very plain. The neighborhood is not the greatest. Parking is a little difficult and the parking area is small.

  3. Just had Wings &Things before The Islander game. Wow I love this place. I had ribs chicken fried okra and collard greens. This place is so cheap and so goooood.  I highly recommend you wear a bullet proof vest when coming. Enjoy

  4. The cornbread is S O L I D! OMG, so, so, so, so GOOD! The wings were ok. Honestly, I've had better. They were extra, extra crispy..so I felt like I was eating a potato chip rather than a piece of chicken. I had the honey bbq wings and while the portion was huge, I wasn't blown away. My boyfriend ranted and raved about this place, so I had high expectations. I'd give it 3 stars just for the cornbread. Everything else was mediocre.

  5. I don't know what happened on that day. I tried wings and things fried chicken for the first time at my friends wedding rehearsal – that chicken was so off the hook I took some chicken to go – LOL! That was how good it was – That day it was FIVE STARS!

Ok – So now I get to the place thinking I am going to have a finger licking good time – I ordered fried chicken with Collards – Hmmmmmmmmm womp womp – The chicken and the collards were SO SALTY – what happened? Did I go to the right wings n things………………… ALL THAT SALT HA GOT TO GO………….. I do not know if it was that day – but it sure turned me off – so I indulged in the corn bread – LOL!

Sorry wing n things – you have to remain consistent………….

  6. What is it about Wings N Things that makes you swerve into the parking lot, and start ordering @ the drive through?

I think the collard greens, biscuits, yams and way too greasy, well salted chicken is why I pull right in…  It has to be good or why even consider this kind of food.

In and out in 4 minutes and always good.

  7. I don't know if its the things or the wings that keep me coming back here but I know they're all GOOOOD 🙂

I feel like this place has been around forever. As a chicken spot, if you can last a few minutes down from a Popeyes than you're definitely doing something right. Wings n Things obviously specializes in chicken but they really do offer a wide array of options on their menu. Everything from ribs to cornbread, corn on the cob, macaroni and cheese, yams, biscuits, sweet potato pie, collard greens, and the list goes on…

Corn bread here is to die for and they give you big healthy sized pieces that I sometimes end up cutting in half. My favorite is the honey bbq wingettes but I have recently switched over to their boneless chicken and I find that to be better because you get a lot more chicken that way. I love their French fries, I don't know what it is about them but I can finish the bag before I get home.

I have used them to cater before and they are very reasonably priced as well as professional. People will love the food you get here. I wouldn't suggest coming here to dine in but the drive through is always packed. They are definitely not short of business because people just love their food. ( especially me!)

  8. I grew up on Wings and Things as a native of Hempstead. This place was blocks from my house. Whenever my family had gatherings we would order from here. The Wings have some secret recipe that is addicting!!! The sides are delicious as well. Macaroni Salad is a staple item! They provide biscuits and the corn bread is good as well. The dining in area is pretty spacious but can get packed.
