  1. A-OK!

Finding myself in this part of New Jersey, I've definitely been impressed by some deli's. Sadly, Ike's didn't fulfill those sammy dreams. I ended up with a basic grilled chicken, fresh mutz, roasted red peppers, balsamic in a whole wheat wrap and although the grilled chicken was juicy and tasty, the sandwich itself was a bit meager and pretty regularly good. Nothing I wouldn't say no to in the future, just not as impressive as others.

What could have been better? The mutz was cut super thin, I think added a bit more of that delicious mutz would have been helpful. The roasted red peppers did nothing for the sandwich? Do you soak them in house? Have you tried adding garlic to the deep soak? The chicken was good, but also maybe could have used a bit more. Maybe a balsamic glaze adding a bit more oomph to the sandwich as a whole.

Plenty of street parking as well as a lot and they sell wings? It ain't cheap and they charge you $1 for celery which I mean, wings and celery go hand in hand.

Anyway, Ike, not a bad stop, but next time I'll hit up one of your sammy's to see if they kick a bit more ass than the wrap.

Super close to the train station!

  2. Great sandwiches. Reorganized the furniture, etc. looks bigger now. Would look better if all the chips were on the back wall instead of spread out. Looks sparse this way and would be easier to pick something from one way. Want to try the wings, everyone raves about them during football season.

  3. A colleague of mine told me about this place and I was getting out of work the other night, I figured let me give it a shot. I knew I was running a risk since it was near closing that this could be a complete bust, but it absolutely wasn't.

I ordered two things to try and split with the gang when I got home. I ordered a plain old chicken cutlet with lettuce and tomato (mayo of course, I'm not a communist). I thought it was going to be this cold piece made earlier in the day that was nuked. That's what I'm used to getting in some other places. I couldn't have been more wrong. It was hot, juicy, definitely made when I ordered and I couldn't have been more pleased. I was hooked based on this alone.

The other sandwich was the shrimp po' boy. I figured more negative things that it was frozen popcorn shrimp deep fried and scattered about the roll. Yet again, I couldn't have been more wrong. It too was made to order and actually had large pieces of shrimp, I was blown away.

The prices were spot on and the staff was friendly even though it was getting to be near closing time for them. This is a place I will be back to because I definitely want to try their wings.

  4. Way better than the Ike's in San Francisco, Ike's Big Mouth prides itself on its high quality ingredients. I had the Gladiator, a large sandwich made with a fried/breaded chicken cutlet, pepper jack cheese, bacon, lettuce, ranch, and a spicy chipotle honey. Good balance of ingredients, the best was the fried chicken cutlet. Apparently they use freshly slaughtered chicken from Goffle Farms, which is only a few miles away. If you come, definitely get a sandwich with chicken in it, the deli sandwiches seem like the standard Boar's Head you can find at other places.

Definitely better than hitting up one of the chain sandwich shops.

  5. Wraps & subs you're gonna love!

Ike's is a no thrills, down to business, sandwich and wings shop that gives you top the line ingredients and big sized subs and wraps. They've got a plethora of choices, most dealing with chicken and lean towards a healthier choice while still giving you a hefty load of toppings that will easily satisfy your cravings with half a sub. Located right on the corner so you can't miss it, you'll find a perfect shop to stop at for a quick bite or for the football season parties.

I went with the Guacamole Special Wrap which had a nice kick to each bite as I wrapped my mouth around the chipotle chicken with bacon and pepper jack cheese smothered in their homemade guacamole. They offer different specials each day, generally costing between $6 – $9 per sandwich/sub/wrap.

  6. I love this spot for a fresh, local raised chicken sandwich, which are huge. The bread is fresh and soft which I like, but maybe a little less of it would be better. Their selection of sandwiches is nuts, and for 10 bucks or less you get two meals. The chicken cutlet is the star of the show, fried to perfection, fresh, and seasoned well. I will be back to try every sandwich they have. I had the drunken chicken, which was awesome, topped with penne vodka sauce!!!!

  7. This restaurant has a lot of nice things, the only reason that I didn't give it 5 stars was because of the prices on the wings, while try we're tasty, they were close to a dollar a wing, and that's too much for what you get if you ask me. Sandwiches are good here also and they're more reasonably priced.

  8. Nice and friendly owner and staff.  The wings are made fresh when you order them.  Wife and I sometimes order too many but we enjoy trying ti finish them.  We actually haven't try any sandwiches but will try now after reading some reviews.  We just love the wings even though they could be a bit more spicy.

A good value for the fresh food and amount, well worth the visit.  Enjoy especially on Sunday watching a football game or two.
