  1. Worst CluckU in the franchise.
Consistently underdone wings, no matter how many I times I repeat to the owner/cashier "WELL DONE"… Please cook them a lot.. extra crispy!  They still come out Luke warm with an under cooked pink center. When I pointed this out they microwaved them! I watched and heard the owner instruct his staff to microwave them, and when I confronted him he lied saying "I don't know what they did"
As if this were not enough, the smell of dank curry is engrained into the place. Not to be racist… It just smells more like pungent Indian food than a chicken joint.

Randolph, Morristown, Hoboken, Dunellen and Somerville offer a better product, better service in a more pleasant environment.

  2. I don't think I've had Cluck U since college but I must say that it was even better than I remembered.

Tried the buffalo chicken wrap combo, big fan of the fries, boneless chicken wings, and  BBQ grilled chicken sandwhich. On Tuesdays they have 5 biscuits for a dollar but they're not your typical biscuit, it was friend dough, not sure why they called it a biscuit- wasn't a fan.

Other weird part was they ask what kind of sauce do you want with your buffalo chicken wrap.

  3. Since I went to Rutgers and was a regular back in the early 90s I've remained a fan of Cluck U. When this one opened here in Parsippany, all I hoped for was the food being the same quality as I'd been to other franchises and they weren't always as good as the original. Well if you too are a fan-you won't be disappointed.  The food is just as good though the service is a little slow.  Great selection here and the sides and 'Clucker Bees' are great as well.

The second time I was here a couple summers ago, my friend challenged me to the Cluck-U 911 wing challenge and I sent him packing. 10 of the 911 wings (yes I had to sign a waiver) in 5 minutes with no napkins or beverage, then wait another 5 minutes without napkin or a beverage. Stop by and see my picture up on the wall-there I am in a black Rutgers shirt looking miserable. Hottest thing I think I've ever eaten.

But it isn't just about scalding wings-all of the sauces are delicious and there are even great salads for those looking for a healthier option.

  4. Perhaps I was expecting too much from all of the Cluck U hype I have heard over the years, but my one and only Cluck U experience left a lot to be desired.

The food – my chicken was literally little dried out pieces of meat with a thin covering of hot sauce. It is wrong to expect some decent chicken, or at least meat that wasn't cooked an hour ago and hanging out under a heat lamp for an hour or 3?

The service – My order was filled super quickly.  I assume this is because the chicken was cooked an hour (or 3) earlier and just needed to be tossed in some hot sauce once my order was placed. For that, they get one feathered wing in the air.  The downfall lies in the less-than-enthused-to-be-there-20-something-year-old who seemed frazzled between filling our order and answering one phone call.  She also completely missed a fulfilling a sandwich order from an older couple who seemed to have been waiting for an eternity to get their dinner (thus the gray hair).

The price – the cost of the food is OK, and a lot of local circulars provide discounts.

Recommendation – I most likely won't be back here for a long time. I'm sure you could find better food elsewhere.

  5. Clean clean clean

I am used to the Morristown Cluck-U and that place is always pretty disgusting when it comes to the dining area.

The window of the place is plastered with weekday specials so that's always a plus! I haven't had a lot of Cluck-U, but this place is pretty chill. Never packed and they have music videos or SC playing on the TV while you wait for your food.

    Bottom Line:
I wouldn't go totally out of the way for Cluck-U, but if I had to pick one in the area, I would definitely go with this one over the one in Morristown. Super clean, employees are pretty courteous, and owned by locals!

I'm not sure, but according to fellow Yelpers they do not have as many sauces as neighboring Morristown, so if you are big on all kinds of sauces I would check first! Come for the specials!

  6. First time visitot. And they only mins from home.
Clean place. Very respectful staff. The aroma walking  in will have you wanting to try a few things.
But I am sad to have to write that when got home to eat the chicken. It was cooked very hard. Over cooked. Since this is my first visit.  I am not sure if this is normal for this place. But I could not even get through the first piece.  And I brought a 6 piece.

I will not return. Considering I was there at 11p and only 3 people in the building.  Hard chicken is not good. Since it was fresh.

Just a reminder. Just because it smells good and looks good. Do not mean it will taste good.
