Can't miss this spot. It's a super small hole in the wall that's bright like the sun, except white. Seems pretty clean, as you can see them cooking the food from the cash register.
Portions are large (for dinner), and I was able to split up the General Tso's chicken into 4 meals lol. But my complaint is that their general tso's didn't have the right flavor…either they didn't put enough food coloring or sugar or ketchup.. SOMETHING was missing. Maybe they just messed up cause it was almost closing time, but I'm wary to order the General from them again anticipating disappointment.
Lunch special for $5? That definitely caught my eye. I'll be ordering that from here if I get a Chinese takeout craving.
I was nearby and in search of a quick lunch so I checked out Yelp reviews and this place got some good ones. It did not disappoint. I had hot and sour soup, and general tso's with white rice. After finishing all of my soup I didn't have much room for the general tso's but it was so good I had to eat some of it. Very pleasant man at register, taking orders and calling you when yours was ready. New go to place for take out lunch.
I have passed by this place for years and never tried it. Worked very late last night and was looking for something on the healthy side to bring home for dinner. It was almost 11:30 at this point and the only things open were some pizza joints. I decided to give this place a shot, and was glad I did.
The place itself looks like a little dump. Everything is worn down, beaten up, old looking, and the stoves and cooking equipment are ancient as if from another era. Even the overhead menu is worn and fading. Only a single table to sit at.
I say this all in a good way though, with reverence maybe, as you can tell these stoves have cooked thousands of good meals for the locals in the area over the years. I looked over the Chinese menu which was full of options and decided to get steamed chicken and mixed vegetables. I was quite surprised how much food I actually received in a small portion for only $6.25! Plus, brown rice. This was a full meal.
What struck me were the vegetables. Large pieces of vibrantly colored broccoli, peppers, mushrooms, and carrots. Very fresh. Lots of perfectly steamed chicken. The rice was cooked just right. They also gave me a cup of the brown sauce on the side. Filling, flavorful, and satisfying for a late night healthy meal.
I just became a fan of this place. Cheap, quick, fresh, solid Chinese food. Open late too. Sometimes the best food comes out of these little dingy dumpy places.
