Danny’s Szechuan Garden

“My boyfriend and I went to have habachi and although the chef did not put on a show like we are used to, the food was delish!”

“Definitely get at least one order of the fried rice to share, I find it's enough for two people considering all the food you're served.”

“Went to Danny's new location on Saturday with some trepidation over reading the 80's style decor, yes it is lavender themed but quite chic I found the frosted glass, and faux aquarium quite relaxing.”

  1. Excellent food upstairs or downstairs, eat in or take out…always fresh food

  2. Best Chinese takeout in the Howard Beach/ Ozone Park area. Hibachi is very good. All meals use only white meat chicken. The schezuan wantons are the best- pork wontons in a peanut butter sauce.

  3. Good Chinese but not a place I would recommend to anyone who's a Chinese food lover. They have habachi there too. I ordered take out from here and the food was alright, and just alright.

  4. I came here last night around 9:30. We meet Danny!!! He's a very nice man and gave is some recommendations to try when we return. It's a nice setup with very nice staff. We had the beef fried rice, wanton soup and something with pork and shrimp. He said the soup was great, and the pork shrimp with okay, not great. I think that the beef fried rice was tasty BUT needs more spice and flavor. They need a bigger selection on non-alcoholic beverages sine the only choice was water or ice tea. If we're ever craving Chinese and are close by … We might return.

  5. Danny's Szechuan Garden is a huge, two floor restaurant in the middle of nowhere. The top floor offers Japanese and hibachi dishes while the first floor serves up traditional Chinese fare. The food is a bit overpriced, but very tasty. Anything with scallops is a good choice from their menu, since they always give you an abundant amount. The owners are very friendly and do their best to make you feel welcome.

I can't really rate their top floor, or any of the hibachi dishes because I've never been up there. But the food I have had there was solid, although not mind blowing. I definitely wouldn't go out of my way to get to this place. But, they do have a full bar which is always a plus.

  6. Bleh! Hibachi has lost most of its magic because of the sheer repetitiveness of their routine (look a heart, oh and a volcano…). However, this place in particular really dropped the ball in all aspects.

The soup was too salty, the salad had wilted greens, and the shumai was WORSE than the microwaveable shumai you can pick up in a super market. The actual entrees were okay, but not good enough to make up for the dreadful appetizers.

Our chef/entertainer was okay, and at par with other hibachi shows. However the waitress who took our order and got our drinks forgot about my Shumai. After the chicken and steak was already on my plate, I called her over and asked about my order of shumai–apparently she forgot to put it in.

    Swell…

By the time I was about half way done with my meal the shumai came out. To say it was bad is an understatement, it was absolute trash…

If you're looking for a hibachi place, find another spot!
