The food and service is attentive and good value. Afterwards you can go shopping on Austin Street.
Solid breakfast fare….I haven't been here for another meal. The staff is super friendly…my only issue is with the number of bodily sounds, from the rooter to the tooter. I heard them from the kitchen, from the old lady sitting a few seats to my right and from the old man sitting a few seats to my left. I think this is a kind of home way from home for the elderly in this area. They are super comfortable here. SUPER!
Breakfast here, I am not a fan of.
Surprisengly they have amazing salmon dinners. The vegetables are soggy, but they have nice mashed potatoes, and delicious turnips (think they mix them with sweet potato). THE RICE PUDDING HERE IS TO DIE FOR! IT IS MY ABOLSUTE FAVORITE. The dinner specials are affordable!
The waitresses are very friendly, and I have never had a negative experience with management.
Don't judge a book by it's cover. Austin House serves up a great breakfast despite it's shabby exterior. I've never dined in and doubt that I ever would given all the other area options. However, I do order breakfast via Seamless at least once a week, normally on a Saturday when I'm lazing around. They offer vegetable options in place of potatoes and have a surprisingly good iced coffee! Delivery is especially quick and the delivery guys are always nice.
they've got the staples at affordable prices along w/the cookie personalities (diners moreso than staff). it's a neighborhood staple that has everything u could want in a diner menu. salads are good and fish is actually decent. side dishes are very iffy and to be safe stick w/the tried and true. skip the desserts – they r store bought and not great.
This diner is great for your diet! The food, for the most part, is inedible!! The service is also a step above lousy. We wanted our salad and turkey burger served together and they were not. We also wanted to substitute a small salad for fries and was told "no" everything is a la cart.
The turkey burger was soggy and clearly not fresh. The only positive was that my daughter loved her grilled cheese sandwich.
So unless you are a one year old with a hankering for grilled cheese – stay away!!!
