Giorgione

“I ordered the Tonno Alla Griglia, which was grilled yellowfin tuna with braised green lentils, roasted tomatoes and diced zucchini.”

“Located in really cool Hudson Square area, which is sort of in between TriBeCa and SoHo and definitely off the beaten path.”

“Great thin crust, wood burning oven pizza, wonderful Branzino with broccoli rabe, fresh berries and cream for dessert were delicious.”

  1. I've been here twice. The food is good, the atmosphere is good. I just never think of going back. It's a cute wine bar with tasty food off the side from the typical soho/west village crowd. It feels more neighborhoody and generally is pretty packed.

The wine selection is good. And I would go back but again it's never the first place i think of.

  2. Based on the other yelp reviews, I'm glad I chose to have Giorgione's delivered and enjoyed at home. Although I cannot comment on the restaurant or service, I can speak for the food.

I agree with the other yelpers that the food was pretty standard, and was lacking an extra punch of flavor. We ordered a basil mozzerella pizza, spaghetti bologna, beef capriccio over argula, and an arugula salad with focaccia bread. I have to say that the arugula salad with bread and the capriccio I preferred out of the whole meal.

Not sure if I would order the pizza again.. the cheese was a bit heavy and I especially did not enjoy the leftovers the following day, as it upset my stomach.

    Food, average.

  3. This place is a work horse! Oysters are always on point. Pizza is always on point. Drinks are always on point. Service is usually quite good, thought a few times it's been shaky, but more often than not, it's top notch. Never have I met a dish I haven't liked. I'm here all the time as a result! A great spot.

  4. Meh, I've experience better.  D*bag waiter, the hostess was ok but looked like she had a chip on her shoulder.

Food was slightly over salted.  The grilled octopus was pretty good and I was a fan.  Pizza was just ok.  Slightly pricey.   Since there are only a few other options around there, the others are better.

A meh review for a meh restaurant.

  5. Tried the prosciutto pizza and the beet salad. Everything was OK…nothing amazing, just decent.

  6. I work a few blocks away from Giorgione and whenever I'm asked for a good suggestion in the area for a business lunch, this is my go-to.

I've been here countless times and stand by these five stars. I even forced my girlfriend to have her birthday dinner here and they gave her a firecracker to the face. No, seriously, their idea of a celebration isn't some candle on a cupcake, it's literally some sort of sparkler on steroids in a champagne glass. Sounds a lot more dangerous than it really is – the dinner was, of course, wonderful and the girl came out unscathed.

Pyrotechnics aside, the establishment is stylish yet minimalistic in decor, reasonably priced, and above all, the food is excellent. Try any of the pizzas – perfect for appetizers on a group dinner. Personally, I can't stay away from the Mezze Rigatoni Con "Guazzetto" D' Anatra (short-cut rigatoni with a slow cooked duck sauce, bitter greens and shaved pecorino) – I seem to be cosmically drawn to this entree whenever I set foot in Giorgione. Ranks with some of the best dishes I've ever had.

  7. nice place, but food seems  a bit overpriced. you'll find a crowd of business attire diners here as well. I hear their pasta is good, though I've only had their yellowfin tuna salad. a place i'd come back to if I can expense my lunch 🙂

  8. As a fan of Dean and DeLuca, I decided to stop by Giorgio DeLuca's namesake restaurant, Giorgione, for lunch during my most recent trip to NY.

Sadly, my Mezzi Rigatoni con "Guazzetto" d'Anatra (rigatoni with Slow-Cooked Duck Sauce, Bitter Greens, Fresh Pecorino) was all of the following:

-ridiculously tiny….the entire "dish" probably measured about 4x3x1. For $20+ per lunch item, I'd expect to at least feel somewhat full after lunch and not walk out feeling malnourished.

-lacking in any sort of flavor or real sauce (it tasted like it was drenched in nothing but cooking oil)

-late… even though I was promised that it would take only 15 minutes to prepare (as I was in a huge hurry to get back to the office), it ended up taking close to 40. Perhaps they forgot to put in the order? I had to keep bugging the waitress to check on my order status, and I even had to ask for utensils. Service in general was pretty awful.

-possessing an alarming resemblance to Lean Cuisine TV dinners (yet neither lean nor large enough of a portion for dinner)

Sad – especially since I had high hopes for this place!
