  1. This is a cool place because it is open 24 hours and had that great taste of diner food. The fries are amazing and out of this world. The inside is nice the diner area is separated from the lounge part by a tinted door. Do not come here late to eat with a family. The noise will annoy you. People do come in and out and you will not be able to enjoy your dinner. The nightlife when tj first opened was great. They had a dress code etc but now it's not so great.

  2. My husband and I went here for happy hour. The bar stools were all taken up, so we sat at a high top table. We hailed a waitress as no one seemed to be approaching us and then ordered 1 beer each and 3 appetizers. The food came out pretty quickly and a $5 each was a pretty good deal. The Kobe burgers, corn fritters and fried calamari were all good choices.

Now there were not a lot of people there, so I don't understand how we sat with empty glasses for 20 minutes. Our waitress was standing in the corner using the computer. I eventually asked a bus boy for service. He got things for us pretty quickly. At one point, all the servers gathered together in the corner to talk, not one came to ask how we were doing.

I would go back, but would only sit at the bar since you can actually speak frequently with the bartender.

  3. Food and drinks are okay. The waiters and servers can mess up your order at times, but they fix it. Pretty busy on evenings.

  4. This diner is open 24 hours and its one of those nice fancy looking diners, not old school or like outdated. The decor is really nice and theres an outdoor part too you can eat at. Theres also a lounge/bar area where I know they have happy hour and even live DJ and music on certain days. The food is pretty good too, has all diner style food and more other types of dishes. I enjoy there burgers and also there salads are good and really big plates. The service is pretty good too and theres huge parking lot too. I know this place gets crowded on the weekends for breakfast. There kind of pricey but it seems all diner now and days especially on the island have put up there prices. Theres another diner called Z2 which is really nice on the south shore and I know they throw private events too in the bar lounge area which is really big and huge and such nice decor, I am really obsessed on how nice they made these diners you would never think there one. The food is really good in both places. I enjoy coming here to have a bite to eat and keeping it local.

  5. This is not your average dinner.  The tuna melt is huge and delicious. I ask for mine with mozzarella cheese and no tomato.  I also like the florentine omelette with extra spinach. Service is quick and all staff is great. They also deliver and have a full bar.  They have a dj on weekends.

  6. Came here for a friend's birthday dinner. I also had high expectations for the fries, heard they were amazing from my friends.

My friend and I got the California Burger and Penne Alla Vodka to share. The penne was good, the sauce was probably what fill me up. The burger was good too. The fries didn't live up to it hype but it was different, it was crispy but light. My other friend ordered the fried calamari and it tasted pretty good too.

  7. Z-one is very hit or miss, both in the quality of food and service.  Over the summer, my husband and I occasionally come here for Happy Hour to enjoy the beer & appetizer specials.  Sometimes there are fruit flies around the bar area, which is gross.  The bartender is super nice though.  I've been here many times for breakfast & lunch.  Like, I said it's very hit or miss.  The burgers are served on buns made on site.  The buns are very good.  The fries can sometimes be very good, but other times are a little stale.  My husband often orders a Mediterranean salad and he really enjoys it.  I've had some of the breakfast choices, usually an omelet and I've always liked it.  There are definitely better diners on the island, this place is just okay for me.

  8. Z-One tries to be an "upscale hip diner" or something like that.  There is a lounge area with fully stocked bar to the left of the maining dining room you walk into.  It gets kind of crazy late weekend nights where Staten Island's older crowd (cougars and twinky seeking old men) come out to play but this past time I went was to grab drinks and catch up with my girlfriends post black friday shopping at the mall a few miles away.

Our server was nice and took our drink orders in a speedy and efficient matter.  We caught the happy hour special prices which was not bad- premium liquors $4.  Can't beat that.  There was bread brought to the table but it sat there cold and lonely.  We ordered some avocado, spinach and cheese dip and chip appetizer to munch on that was A-OK but nothing that blew me away.
