This review is for their Smorgasburg- Seaport location. The chef cooking the fries was eating fries WHILE she was cooking them! Disgusting! She was chewing over the fryer – so unsanitary!
I am disappointed because I try to support women in the workplace but this woman – a portly fry cook with glasses and her hair in a bun, need a lesson in food safety.
See photos of her and her keeping her dipping sauce on the counter next to her. Seaport location Sunday 6/12/16 – 2:45pm. Gross.
The wife and I were out and about in Brooklyn and stopped by Smorgasburg, highly recommended btw. You wait in line for a few minutes to get these but definitely worth it. We got the war fries and they were a measuring stick to judge other fries. These were thick and crispy the way fries should be and the garlic sauce was awesome. You get a ton of them as well so you should probably bring someone to share them, it's totally understandable to keep them to yourself though. Highly recommended.
These fries were hot, crispy and meaty. Original fries came with one sauce. they gave a lot – I shared with 2 other friends and it was more than enough (albeit we ate a lot of other food). Each extra sauce was a dollar – pretty pricy but I like variety. I really liked the lemon garlic aioli but the chipotle ranch and poblano fraiche was good too! my brother tried the curry ketchup and he said it was great. I want to try the malt vinegar one next time and the herbocado ran out so I'm guessing it's really good.
I think it would be a notch better than pomme frites (quality wise not price) if they had the variety of sauce choices. alas pomme frites isn't available anymore so this is doing a great job as a substitute.
can't wait to go to smorgasburg again for these! eat them with ice cream… mmm
They were present at Electric Zoo on Randalls Island and I went by for a snack in the middle of the day.
I ordered the pomme frites with malt vinegar aioli. The fries were crispy and well done, and the sauce provided a nice tang to it. The only thing was that there was not very much sauce compared to the portion size for the fries. But was still a great experience.
A bit pricey for it, but if you're into pomme frites, you'll like these guys.
I always stop by this booth at Smorgasburg in Williamsburg (and aside from the ramen burger place, it's usually the longest line). I love their fries. They are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, as they should be. The parmesan truffle fries are the best in my opinion, with a side of the lemon aioli. The fries are cooked to perfection and the sauce flavors are very well done. Some people complain that they are a little pricey but you definitely get a good helping that is shareable. I definitely recommend stopping by this booth when given the chance.
I'm not the person you ask to accompany you to wait in a long ass line to try the latest and greatest food whatever. Not because I don't want to try it, but I'm patient enough to bide my time for the hype of said food thing to wane and then I'm on it. Patience is a virtue and I am very virtuous person.
So after seeing these insanely long lines for Home Frite every time I went to Smorgasburg, I managed to catch them at some outdoor art exhibit where there was an outdoor beer garden, a few food stands, and barely any people. Yes! Once I saw the Dutch, I knew I had to go for it. Those crispy meaty fries topped with curry ketchup, lemon aioli, and chopped onions. Holy flavor town! I was practically swooning. They blanket the fries with those toppings instead of serving the sauces separately, so the eating on the go part is kind of cancelled out, but heck if I care. I parked myself down and stuffed my face with potatoey goodness. No regrets.
These are definitely better than most any french fry you'll have. Whatever gives them the dark / orange color also adds flavor. They're crispy, seasoned, and fried in something good. Comes with dipping sauces. Lemon aoili is the one they use most, and it's a great pick. There's about 5-6 others.
There are huge lines for this stand at Smorgasburg for a reason.
Got the regular fries with the herb ricotta sauce — the fries were very heavy and filling due to this. The cone that they came in was very innovative and made it super easy to carry/eat — I really appreciate it! The fries themselves were a bit greasy and did not have a flavor to them (under seasoned) — it was all in the sauce. However, it did satisfy my fries craving ! Would order them again if they had a bit more seasoning and less oiliness on them!
