  1. Ehhh, came here with my girlfriend's after work for drinks and early dinner. I ordered a chicken panini I forgot the exact name of the one I ordered but it was pretty good. It had bacon and haloumi on it. The fries could have been cooked just a tiny bit more. One of my friend's ordered a burger that the waiter recommended to her. I tasted it and it was pretty tasty. My other friend ordered another type of chicken panini she said hers was good.

I like the decor of the place, unlike other reviewers who stated that service was terrible our waiter was very nice and tentative, that is, until he left. Once he left we were barely checked on.

My friend ordered coffee and had to send it back twice, she said it tasted watery and my sangria wasn't good. I think they let the orange peels soak in it and it gives the sangria a floral unpleasant flavor.

  2. I have been here a couple of times throughout the years and ordered appetizers & drinks.  At times the food is good at times not so great. Today I had an amazing Greek salad w/ chicken.  Chicken was seasoned just right and the salad was very fresh.  Service was excellent.  Our waiter was very very attentive And that's how I like my service.  As we waited for our check, the manager  asked us if we would like a tea or coffee for the road on him. That was very sweet and we were so happy so I ordered a frappe.  Omg this was so gooood and I don't even like coffee!!!! My co workers were raving on how great their food was and want to come back soon.

    7/26/15:

Walked up to hostess and asked to be seated outside. Walked in with my mom and brother for some code.  Table we wanted was not yet cleaned up.  She asked us to wait and 5 mins later we were still standing. I asked why is it taking so long? Her response was, well I'm not sure where the guy went & just looked at me. I said ok well I'll sit here till someone comes.  Ugh!! I wasn't going to stand around waiting for another 5mins.  Couldn't she have gone to look for someone? Like I said before, at times service is great and sometimes not so amazing.

  3. I needed to kill time and we stumbled upon this place since it had outdoor seating and I had my dog with me.  I ordered one of their organic cold press juice called the "Early  Riser" which had pineapple, pear, apple and mint. It was refreshing but it cost $9. Anything organic is pricey I guess. My husband ordered a beer. It was almost the same price as my juice. I forgot. When it was time for us to get the check, it was hard to flag down a waiter. It took forever especially when the place wasn;t even busy.. Looking around, majority of the people just ordered the sandwiches or the wraps. This place was just ehhhh.. to me. Nothing special or grand about this place.

  4. My boyfriend and I went here tonight for what was my first time. He had been there before and we were in the area in search of some outdoor eating. We had already eaten but was looking to grab some coffee and dessert while enjoying the beautiful weather. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. We ordered a fruit bowl and a Nutella crepe with strawberries and bananas. We also ordered a cappuccino and hot tea. The Nutella crepe was ok, I found the crepe to be too crispy and the bananas were definitely over-ripened. However, anything covered in Nutella tends to be delicious. Also, the fruit bowl had a good variety but the mango was definitely not ripe making it hard to eat. As far as food I was not impressed, everything was just ok, however I would be willing to go back to try more of the menu. They looked to offer a large variety and I definitely saw some things that caught my eye. I hope to have a better experience on my next visit.

  5. We brought our oldest grandchild to Grand Cafe for lunch hoping to give her parents a break in their day. We had salads and she had a grilled cheeses sandwich. Good salads but the one bite of my granddaughter's grilled cheese sandwich and I'm convinced the food must be very good. The wait staff we're accommodating and congenial. The excursion was beyond just a lunch out rather a great experience for all.

  6. The food here is decent, but the service is so bad it makes it hard to want to come back or write a decent review…

We came on a Sunday around 3:30 and more than half the restaurant was empty. The drinks took forever and the service was pretty sloppy, but not so bad .. Yet. (Lots of servers standing around/texting etc.)

We eat (a burger and a wrap), our plates get cleared and the waitress is nowhere in sight. Ok fine- were hanging out, talking, whatever. 20 mins go by with no sign of her, so I go up to the bar and asked for our check. When the guy came to drop off the check I asked "where's our waitress? We haven't seen her in 20 mins", to which he replied "oh, she got kidnapped". Really? No apology no "sorry for the delay"? Nothing??

So rude.  In addition to that, we had no napkins/silverware and never got refills on water. Both things I would usually overlook, but now just added to the overall lack of customer service at this place.

It's a shame because they expanded their menu to have a bunch of healthy/organic/vegan etc. items.

  7. This review is for the late night experience only.

I came here with my girl who works in Astoria after we had a great dinner down the street. It was pretty bumpin so I expected the crowd was there cause this place was a good late night spot for drinks and food. Unfortunately, the drinks were just ok. I would have loved to see some more specialty cocktails on the menu but instead I had a generic mojito and a whiskey honey that tasted like I could have made it with the stuff I have in my cabinet at home.

Even though we had literally just eaten dinner, I was also in the mood to keep the party going hoping to browse the menu for something savory and/or sweet as a snack. Again unfortunately the appetizer menu was essentially nonexistent. We did however settle for the baklava which was pretty darn good so at least one plus!

Maybe this is a spot better served for brunch fare, but if you're looking for a fun late night place head down the street and bit and you'll find something more suited for your needs.

  8. While a little dated Grand continues to deliver on the goods. And the goods in question are prompt friendly service, a great location and decent food. Loitering outdoors with friends discussing and resolving all the world's ills is the name of the game. Arm-chair-generaling/quarterbacking brought outdoors. This is the Greek laissez faire way.  So head over to Grand and arm yourself with a frappe and let the problem solving begin. There may be a Nobel Peace peace prize waiting for you. And why not? BHO, II was awarded one before he had a chance to earn it so why not you?
