  1. I've only ever been here for drinks, but it was an enjoyable experience! They have a pretty decent beer selection with some cool seasonal selections. I also had some kind of whiskey cocktail – sorry I don't remember the name. Overall, it's a good neighborhood spot.

Pro tip from someone who's always in the neighborhood: it gets really crowded on weekends (I've heard they have good burgers) and there's limited seating.

  2. I have repeatedly ridiculed the brunch madness that plagues the 20-30 somethings of Brooklyn. And here I am, at 31, once again enjoying brunch. Damn-o!

I came here for brunch (I am a convert) and got the 6 dollar biscuits and gravy (whaaaa?) and the duck comfit hash. I appreciated that the latter came with hollandaise sauce, like a benedict. Gone are the days where you must pick between duck and hollandaise! Hoorah!

The prices are right. Get here earlyish because it gets busy.

I have been here at night a few times and the food has been a bit inconsistent and the service a bit more Williamsburg than PFG. The beer selection is on point, though, and that is what will keep me coming back.

  3. Having walked by here so many evenings and seen it full of people enjoying drinks after a hard day's work (assume anyways), I've been planning on trying it out for a while. Sadly, I was severely disappointed. The beer pours here are miniscule even by Manhattan bar standards- many beers on their draft list are 8oz. pours some costing upwards of $9. That's over a $1 an ounce. This is staggering. What makes going out and having a drink so fun is the ambience and atmosphere of a special space, and Midwood Flats has this for sure. However, they ruin it by charging so much for their beers. It's very upsetting. You can go to other beer bars around the city and get better prices for the same beers: Arts and Crafts in Greenwich Village, Double Windsor in Windsor Terrace, and Bar Great Harry in Cobble Hill all have similar ranges of beer, but (especially at happy hour) you can get a full pint for $7, that's about 3-4 more ounces of beer for $2-$3 cheaper. Do the math. It's simple. Midwood Flats should rethink their pricing. The staff are nice, but not overly so and at least once they forgot our round of drinks. The food is very good, perfectly cooked and it comes out fast. In fact this was probably the most satisfying part of our meal. I'd love to say I'll give them another chance, but with so many other options at way better price points I probably won't make it back to Midwood Flats. A pity as it is such a cool space.

  4. I came here with my sister, our friend and her daughter last night for a quick bite to eat after a long day at Prospect Park for Curl Fest. We were pretty tuckered out and starving and my sister suggested the place as somewhere she loves to frequent in the area so we gave it a shot.

It was a pretty dark bar but everyone seemed really friendly and the waitress took our order fairly quickly which I loved because as I previously said, we were starving!

We ordered the duck wings and the avocado toast as our appetizers, neither of which I particularly cared for. The duck wings really had no distinct flavor to them. They were really boring with a molasses type sauce. I definitely would not get that again.

On the other hand, I got their medium well burger and that was to die for. The cheddar cheese mixed with the smokey flavor of the burger was absolutely amazing. I woke up thinking about it and wishing it wasn't so far. Lol.

  5. Local spot, been here a few times for both drinks and food. Honestly, I want to like this place a lot…they have a nice selection of beers and whiskey, but the food is not good.

Pros: good, stiff drinks with great service, nice atmosphere though can get crowded

Cons: so-so food, limited selection on menu; their burgers are way too big with no flavor. Wish they had more appetizers/finger food. And how do you serve burgers without fries? Last, but not least, what is up with the bouncer checking ID's at the door on weekends? Come on man, this is a bar not a club.

  6. You know, I never really hang out in this area, but places like Midwood Flats really make me regret that. This place has a KILLER whiskey selection, and also great beers on tap and in bottles. A rare 1-2 punch. Came here after dinner, so didn't have any food, but the burgers looked/smelled good.

The place was pretty crowded on a Friday, but the hostess made sure we had a place to sit at the bar. Seems like a lot of people have made this their local bar, and I can see why.

  7. Great whiskey selection, pretty good beer selection (including some sours usually) and a tight spot overall.

Unfortunately it's fairly small and gets tight quick (though nothing as bad as Erv's) so I usually only go for super early or late times to work around that.

Atmosphere is your typical dimly lit, wood based hip Brooklyn bar, just now in your local PLG hood. A welcome addition to the neighborhood in my eyes.

  8. I've been here several times for drinks – a beer once, an afternoon mimosa, and a later rye whiskey night cap (on different occasions, I'm not that much of a lush!!) the drinks are good here – the mimosa was the only drink they had to make, and they make em strong! A little pricey on the whiskeys, honestly, but just come for the charm of the place. Good neighborhood feel, and the waiters are very friendly without being in your face all the time. Enjoy!
