Delicious and speedy, Glaze Teriyaki Grill redefines "quick lunch food." I used to be sick of going to the local "mega-deli" — you know the type — with grill station, Mongolian grill, sandwich station, refrigerated sushi, prepared hot foods, salad bar. It gets old day after day. So I walked around and saw Glaze and decided to give it a try.
I wasn't let down. After queueing in an efficient, fast-moving line, I ordered "Soup Nazi" style — quick and knowingly. You can make modifications to any of their set combos which it seemed almost everyone did (e.g. no salad, extra sauce, double meat, salmon and chicken combo, etc).
I ran back to my office with my hot teriyaki in hand and devoured it. The rice was the perfect texture, neither too dry nor moist, and they used a Japanese grain which was especially delicious. Since the single portion of meat looked a little small, I opted for a double portion, which was perfect. Gyoza was OK but not something I would order again. Teriyaki chicken was tender and flavorful (I ordered the thigh).
All because Bengal tiger restaurant was packed this was the next choice. Got the combo 1 with steak ,chicken and brown rice. Good sized portion. The chicken was too dry but the steak was quite delicious with the spicy teriyaki sauce. Sampled some veggies and they were ok as well . The brown rice was boring as usual but healthy.
Came here during the week for lunch, and I can see why the line isn't out the door. It's not bad, but there's no pizzazz.
Space – Can comfortably hold about 12 dine-in patrons.
Service – I understand that lunchtime is busy, and people get flustered sometimes, but a smile here and there wouldn't be so bad.
Teriyaki Salmon w/ Brown Rice – Standard. This is something you can easily make at home. For restaurant quality, I'd at least expect the brown rice to be fluffed to perfection. But no. The salmon was slightly overcooked, but the teriyaki sauce helped to masked that.
Side Salad w/ Honey Lemon Dressing – I had two pieces of wilted lettuce. Considering there's only about six pieces of lettuce in my side salad, I'd consider that to be a major deficiency. Honey lemon dressing was refreshing though.
Neutral.
Was so stoked when Glaze opened further west than their original Lexington Ave location. While it's small inside, they can still seat up to 6-7 groups at a time – and it is much cuter inside than some of your other "whole in the wall" Asian food spots on this block. Friendly and fast team working here, too. And I love their fountain featuring Boylan's Soda.
If you've never been before, I'd advise that classic chicken breast on rice is the way to go. And the sesame salad dressing is delish.

Full disclosure – I tried Seamless delivery from here once where the food arrived an hour late and cold. So I'm not sure I'd go that route again. But for carry out or dine in, this place is the bomb dot com.
Glad that midtown east has a decent lunch spot (quick as well)! I had the teriyaki glazed salmon, brown rice set. Salmon portion was generous, and well cooked. Teriyaki sauce was just enough. Good system to move the lunch crowd too.
Will definitely head back.
Standard quick-serve food. Had the chicken thigh and white rice combo with the gyoza combo, which came out to a little over $10. A good value because you'll be stuffed. The salad that came on the side was a little limp, but the chicken and rice were both A-Ok! Not amazingly good food, but definitely not bad. The staff is overall friendly too.
Probably walked by this place numerous times and never noticed it until the $5 credit from level up. Came here and got the chicken theigh teriyaki plate with extra salad and no rice. After the credit, the plate was definitely a great deal. It seems healthy too! Not sure if I would pay full price, the prices are comparable to the nearby places for a lunch plate. Definitely check this place out!
Went here to grab a bite to eat for dinner. Wasn't really anyone in the restaurant around 8:30pm, so it looks like it is more of a grab and go type place.
After looking over the menu, I decided to go with the teriyaki salmon combo plate with veggies and salad with ginger carrot dressing.
The salmon was cooked pretty well and had good flavor with the char of the grill and the teriyaki sauce. Unfortunately, like other Yelpers have mentioned, the brown rice in this place often comes with a bunch of hard, inedible pieces–which just takes away a bit from the experience. The veggies and salad were alright–nothing to write home about, but good enough.
Overall, this place is probably more like 3.5 stars, but they have the teriyaki sauce down pat, so it saves them a little bit. Not a bad spot to grab a bite, but more so for grab and go around dinner time.
