Think I've found my favorite new Chinese spot. The Szechaun fish and tofu rivals anything from Spicy and Tasty. They even have a menu of BBQ meat skewers like the ones you'd find at various carts in downtown Flushing.
The homestyle spring pancakes (I think that's what the rough English translation is) came recommended by the staff, and they did not disappoint. Eight pancake wraps surround a huge mound of shredded pork, baby shrimp, veggies, and vermicelli – it looks like an intricate, savory flower. Does it taste as good as it looks? I'd give it an A+!
Old Place is located on that stretch of businesses right off the Kissena Blvd exit of the LIE. Parking is a cinch since it's in a primarily residential area. My mom lives a few blocks away, so I'll be stopping by each time I come back to Flushing, just to make sure this place stays in business! This food deserves to be tasted.
I never troop to Flushing but when I do, it's for food. A friend lives nearby & recommended this place for Chinese food. He clearly stated that it will blow my mind on how delicious it is & he was so right. I was in awe the remainder of the weekend.
A+ is a new restaurant that has been open for a few weeks now so everything was brand new & clean. There are about 7 to 8 large tables that are perfect for groups.
The menu has many options & is categorized by meats, veggies, & seafood.
I highly recommend the Fish Steak, Snow Pea Leaves, & Pork Shoulder with Seafood. All the dishes were full of flavor. All portions are family style so it can feed from 2-4 people.
Everything on the table was well presented & they condensed the plates to make room for the next dish.
Overall, the food was amazing & the service was great then became excellent after the server was kind enough to accommodate my friend's request for red wine. She had one of the employees run out to the liquor store to grab a bottle since A+ only served Budweiser at the time.
If your in the neighborhood, check out A+ & see for yourself. They are not your typical Chinese take-out so prepare to open your mind to real Chinese cuisine.
