Espinal is a great local Bed Stuy eatery. The food is served deli style and almost always fresh. $7 for a giant plate of rice and a meat topping of choice, which changes daily. But my favorite is the beef stew. Knocking one star because some of the meat toppings are a bit weird for my taste, it can sometimes be a gamble so I stick to what I know. It's also just a typical NYC mini mart with beer, drinks and snacks. If you live in the area you owe yourself to try it, and show up early sometimes the good stuff runs out.
I am so grateful that my boyfriend and I randomly stumbled here because I suddenly got hungry. This is such a find!
For a deli, the variety is crazy… hot food, sandwiches, Latin food, American, etc. I was pretty skeptical of the food's temperature, but both the temp and the flavor really impressed me! The guac was a little too sour though. They also have a little store in the back with some pretty unique stuff — Dominican soda, health drinks, and exotic beers. Overall, you can try a bit of many dishes (especially if you share with others), and everything is priced well.
Espinal also seems to be a popular spot to hang out. They only have a few tables and a few bar stools, but almost a crowd in here on a random Saturday afternoon socializing and laughing it up!
