The heart attack… was ridiculous. It's pretty heavy so understand what you're dealing with when you decide to get this sub. I got it on a roll which meant all of the chicken cutlets were stacked up… So. Heavy.
Oh man, this review is going to end here because I keep thinking about how heavy the sandwich was.
This 24 hour deli is a hot spot they my friends would want to go to any time of the day, for me, I'd be good with just having a sandwich from here every once in awhile. There's a few tables to sit with your friends at, but it does often get crowded so sometimes (especially if you're coming with a group of friends) you're not going to get a seat.
It's a regular deli place and you can get their sandwiches at any other deli shop. They do have their select items that are specific to this place. My friends always always always get their heart attack with a fried egg. It's a pretty good sandwich, but I often find myself regretting eating it because of all the calories loaded in the sandwich. I can only eat half the sandwich other wise I'd be sick to my stomach for downing the whole thing, but if you're like my friends who don't really care about calorie counts or just all the fat and greasiness, then knock yourself out and get the sandwich! The sandwich is tasteful and you get a mouthful of meats, cheese, fries in every single bite.
They have a variety of other items on their menu so if you're not looking to down the Heart Attack definitely take a look at the other things they have to offer.
I have a love/hate relationship with this deli simply because of the customer service.
I came here for a coffee and didn't like the customer service and vowed not to return but I ended up coming and fell in love with their food.
Their sandwiches and salads are great but it sucks that they are right across the street from their competition "Cherry Valley".
Both this deli and Cherry Valley have a host of stuff on the menu. The difference with this deli is that they have a lot more seating so people are always coming here in large groups.
The food is always fresh and made in a timely manner. Never a long wait.
All that needs to be improved is the customer service. After that, it's great.
I recommend
Ok so I love this spot! I personally feel they have the best sandwiches around! I've been coming here for years now and never been disappointed with anything. Ok maybe except the loud obnoxious drunk customers at 3am on the weekends sitting at the tables inside lol But, I usually place my order by phone and pick it up and enjoy my sandwhich in quietness haha They have so many different types of sandwiches! My favorite is the "honey bee!" Chicken cutlet with bacon, melted cheese and honey mustard! Yum! The service is always good and the guys that work the counter are awesome! Prices are your basic big ass sandwich prices haha and when I say big, I mean big! They really load up on whatever it is you ordered- chicken, steak, lunch meat, tuna, etc.. They are definitely well packed to the max! (Keep your minds out of the gutter lol)
If you're looking for the perfect sandwhich- stop at Christina's!
It's been almost 5 years since I first feasted on their glorious "Heart Attack" sandwich! 5 years of modifications to certain menu items, and 5 years of regret, self-loathing and… lmao jk.
Anyway, I've finally decided to do this place justice, because the food here has truly touched my soul.
"Stop hyping it up, they're not THAT good"
They're open 24/hrs a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, have over 100 signature menu items, and foldable chairs and tables that are apparently the "superheroes" of chairs and tables 'cause they've dined people of ALL sizes and are still intact…
So yeah, they're THAT good.
DECOR: Like I said, foldable chairs and tables and it's a Deli. Enough said.
SERVICE: Overall, GREAT. Staff is friendly, service is quick, easy, and straight-forward: You order, you wait, you get your food, you pay. Bam.
Of the 5 years that I've been going here, I've seen staff handle numerous rowdy customers with professionalism. So mucho kudos to that.
FOOD: Heart-Attack, Anti-Couch, The Hank, The Bad Boy AND MANY MORE!
Basically a series of fried foods combined with different sauces and cheeses to make sandwiches, side dishes, or platters! This isn't and will never be a dignifying experience for ANYONE! But the food is yummy, so who the hell cares? I don't.
You can eat it sober OR drunk OR the other one…
There ARE healthier choices for sandwiches or platters but I really recommend that you try their popular stuff, first!
Like I said before, I've done some certain modifications to some of their popular dishes to make my taste buds happier than they already are.
For example…..
The Heart Attack: Instead of the spicy fries, I ask for waffle fries simply cause their crispier. If I'm having the sandwich to stay, I'll drizzle some hot sauce on each bite 😀
The Hank: Same with the Heart Attack, I sub the spicy fries with the waffle fries. I also sub the gravy with ranch dressing, and YES, I also drizzle some hot sauce with each bite.
I hope this review helped! ENJOY!
I am still day dreaming over the amazing sandwich that I tried yesterday at this infamous deli. I totally understand why the locals rave over this deli, all the creations here are creative!
Never have I ever tried any sandwich with fries in it, usually I would eat fries on the side. Yet there are so many creations to choose from that I lost track of, some have spicy fries, others have fries with cheese or ranch , I would come here both drunk and sober at any hour of the day.
First of all a place that you can call up in advance to pickup and is 24/7 of goodness is a slam dunk.
Also the sandwiches here filled with tons of sinful ingredients are decently priced, ranging from 6-8 dollars, I am telling they are not stingy at all!
My chipotle lover sandwich had avocado, hot sauce, mayo, melted cheese and grilled chicken [they gave me 3 cutlets which were well seasoned on a roll] and honestly all the ingredients and flavored worked well together, and if I had room for another one I would totally eat 2 of these.
My boyfriends sandwich with a chicken cutlet, ranch, fries and bacon was to die for. None of the chicken cutlets in any of our sandwiches were dry or plain , they were fresh and well seasoned.
This deli also has breakfast options along with salads like macaroni salad, potato salads or garden salads.
They also sell stuff you would normally find in any deli like cookies, chips, nuts, trail mix, candy, hot coffee and drinks.
Despite the array of options that are simply endless, what holds me back from giving this place 5 stars is the cleanliness of the seating tables that just look sad and worn out. There was a few tables lined up that looked dirty and old, they should invest in new seating.
I know their rolls and heros are fresh too but I didn't see any whole wheat options on display or any other bread choices , they should expand on that. Places like subway have like at least 7 types of bread to choose from while this place had like 2 .
This place is both cash and credit and the owner who runs the deli is really nice and he appreciates his customers .
I cant wait to come back here to try the rest of these creations!
Everybody raves for Christina's because they have sandwiches that includes all the sinful fried foods in one sandwich. It's one of those meals that I regret eating an hour later. Seeing as how Christina's is a bit out of the way, I decided to go for it and got the Bad Boy on a roll.
Bad Boy: Chicken cutlet with waffle fries, mozzarella, bbq sauce/gravy
I'm not in love with the sandwich, but I did enjoy it. It's a chicken cutlet sandwich with the extra yummy toppings, I mean you really can't go wrong with it. I'm not sure, but when I ate my sandwich, the fries actually looked like normal fries and not waffle fries. It's a little messy, so I wasn't about to open my sandwich to check. I really wanted to love the sandwich, but in the end I thought it was alright. It definitely fills you up. So I would suggest getting a hero and sharing it with a friend if you want to save money.
Otherwise, Christina's Deli offers a huge menu. Their seating isn't the "classiest" because it's just a bunch of foldable tables and chairs, but you're clearly not going for the ambiance.
It's a 24 hr deli with plastic table seating. The sandwich was just OK, it just felt like college dorm food thrown together. It's for a younger crowd and perfect if you were high as fuck or drunk.
The food:
Heartattack- Chicken cutlet, melted mozzarella, spicy French fries, onion rings and bacon with special sauce. I didn't like that it was several thin chicken cutlets thrown on top of each other, I would have preferred one large cutlet. The onion rings tasted straight out of the supermarket and I didn't like how they drowned the sandwich in sauce. And there was a pretty strong generic BBQ sauce flavor that I wasn't crazy about.
Waffle Fries with w/ melted mozzarella cheese & gravy. The gravy was salty and I didn't like that the mozzarella came in squares, thrown onto the fries then microwaved. I wish it was shredded mozz and I wish the fries were crunchy.
