  1. Amali Mou serves Greek platters in the UrbanSpace Vanderbilt food court. The line and the menu here tends to be short, offering gyros ($12), platters ($16-$17), dips ($&), and salads ($8-17). Personally, I think the price point is high, so it took me a long time to try the food here. Eventually I stopped in for dinner and after long deliberation, ordered the "Village" salad with pork on top. With juicy tomatoes, feta, olives, onion, and cucumber, mixing with fatty and flavorful grilled pork, the dish was expensive ($17) but a hearty dinner that was low on the carbs. Haven't tried everything else, but that one salad is a winner as long as their tomato supplier keeps the quality up through the winter!

  2. Amali Mou is a tasty modern spin on Mediterranean and Greek food. Their food is apparently inspired from the Souvlazidikos and beachside fare that's served throughout Santorini, Mykonos and the Aegean Islands. I ordered the Cascun Farms Chicken Gyro sandwich through the Uber Eats app ($12). It is served in a fluffy big pita with fresh cucumber, fresh tomatoes, fresh red onion, a flavorful tzatiki sauce and non GMO fries! The chicken is made in a spiced yogurt marinade that is absolutely perfect. The meal is expensive but the quality of the food is certainly top notch. The chicken was tender and juicy and cut into very large chunks. The meal is very filling. They don't provide any extra sauces so if there is something specific you are looking for when ordering to go, make sure you ask for it! They have a great website and do catering as well.

  3. I went to Urbanspace with a few friends to get lunch. Besides it being packed which I knew it was going to be and I didn't really mind. I decided to try Amali Mou since it is Greek food and I wanted to play it safe with something I like. I ordered the lamb gyro which says that it comes with fries. Well I was not impressed at ALL. First of all the lamb meat is in chunks which I was expecting thin strips which is how a gyro is usually served. It was more of a lamb souvlaki. If I would have know that I would not have ordered it because the lamb meat had so much fat on it that I only ate 2 of the 4 lamb chunks. Also, the fries that it comes with are wrapped up and in the gyro, which is a cool idea except they become super soggy. The only thing I enjoyed on the whole thing was the pita with the tzatziki sauce on it.

Pricewise, I knew Urbanspace in general is pricey, but $15 and change for a small gyro that I could hardly eat is ridiculous.

Totally unsatisfied and will not be going back there again 🙁

  4. Chicken gyro: Delicious, moist and juicy chicken sitting inside an incredibly soft pita. The herbs and white sauce made the gyro super flavorful. Best part – thick and lightly flavored fries inside the sandwich! Extremely satisfying

  5. I frequent Urbanspace quite often because one of my offices is in the area. Usually the places in here blow me away, not this one.

For lunch, I got a basic lamb gyro for about $15 and change, quite pricey. There was nothing special about the gyro. I am used to lamb meat being shaved for a gyro, and kabob style for souvlaki. Here, the lamb was cut like kabob, which made it hard to eat. Also, I only had about 3 good pieces of meat in my gyro.

The only positive I would say is that their yogurt sauce was tasty.

All in all, an unsatisfied customer. My least favorite spot in Urbanspace.

  6. Oh my goodness.. Maybe it was a bad day?  I ordered the chicken pita wrap and could not finish it.  It was so dry, the pita bread broke into pieces bc it wasn't even soft enough to wrap.  The chicken was super dry and there wasn't even that much of it in the wrap.  The French fries were dry too!  This was nowhere close to being worth $10+.

  7. I guess there's no wrong choice in Urbanspace at Vanderbilt as each single vender proved to be much more above average. So I closed my eyes and picked Amali Mou.

The signature dish here is the gyro roll and everyone before me was getting that. Not a big fan of pork so opted for the chicken roll. The best part about Amali is that they used non GMO oil to cook the fries.

Really enjoyed my chicken roll – the spicy yogurt sauce was so flavorful. The only drawback I would say is that the meat itself was sightly difficult to bite.
