Went to a Yelp Elite Event thrown by the Hostess with the Mostess Sara M, our awesome Community Manager, and Team Yelp NJ who are all amazing people. Thanks to them!
This place was really nice overall, and we are definitely going to come back to try out more stuff. Obviously we were just in the party room and didn't do dinner, but we checked the whole place out.
Pros:
Food was yummy, Wagyu Sliders, Ceasar Salad Bites, Crab Cakes Pigs in a Blanket, Steak Carvings, all of it was really tasty. We didn't have one bad thing.
Ambience was nice, whoever built it really likes wood and probably loves saunas, you feel like you are in a ski lodge in the Alps sometimes. Warm and inviting. Had a nice vibe, good music too. And even the bathrooms were clean!
Service was good, everyone was friendly and attentive.
Drinks were tasty and plentiful and liberal on their pours which is great.
Party area upstairs is a nice space to rent out, you can see the whole place and you are secluded and there's a full bar, so it is a nice place all to yourselves with bathrooms.
Cons:
Parking! Valet specifically…super backed up, super slow. We had to hang out in the street for a good 5 minutes with a line of cars waiting to get in. Everyone from Jersey was honking at us since we were waiting to turn left and kind of blocking everything. It is on a main road and the valet line is really short. Maybe offer self-park and valet so you have options?
Replenishment in one word…but maybe you can pay for a lot more apps to come out, we aren't sure if it was the restaurant or the package for the party, but food came out in bursts instead of a steady flow, and they got devoured right away since they were tasty. So every 15 minutes or so there would be a mad dash to the appetizers! Maybe a steady flow of passed apps would keep the party going a bit better.
Overall:
Definitely worth going to and the food is the best part, which is great since this is a restaurant.
Shout out again to Sara M. and the Jersey Yelp Team!
After being blessed with a +1 invite to the Yelp Elite event here, just 2 days before, I immediate made plans to come back for the full experience.
Rebecca S. & I had tried to come when they just opened, but they were completely booked, so she was my go to when planned to head back.
We were a little early for our 8pm reservation but they still sat us right away, much appreciated. Our waiter was awesome; recommended items, explained things well, let us know when things were sharing-sized and attentive (can't believe I can't remember his name now but he was great). The rest of the staff (water-refiller, bus-boy, manager, other) were also great and attentive.
Once we placed our order, we were blessed with "everything biscuits". These biscuits were AMAZING. They were thick and soft, buttery and flavorful and accompanied by a veggie spread. When our waiter noticed how much we liked it, he asked if we wanted more. We wanted to save room for our steaks so he packed some us for to take home later…love this guy.
We ordered a beautifully plated (& delicious) sharing Caesar salad for appetizer. (The waiter brought it out to us before mixing it expressly so that we could take our food pics…G move Mr. Waiter, G move!
*THE STEAK:
…was DELICIOUS! I got they filet, she got the Cowboy Rib. In general, I'm not crazy about ribeye, so I wasn't too blown away by her steak. And it was probably just a little over-charred. But that filet tho! It was tender, juicy, flavorful, and cooked to medium-rare perfection! (It also reheated for brunch great the next day.)
We ordered the twice baked potatoes for side and it was also quite tasty and also reheated well the next day
I will DEFINITELY be back sooner rather than later!
First time here and must say this place had a very nice ambiance; more like a classy spot in NYC. Food was very good, expensive but very good and the waiters were on point. I had a fillet mignon with a side of asparagus. The fillet was cooked to perfection. Can't complain… Would definitely go back.
I am not sure why the initial reaction to this outpost is relatively bad, but I had a pretty good experience at this place (well I have read some reviews, but it seems to be the price being too high. Well I guess they will figure out it can go on like this and will either take the price down, or take the restaurant down. Since I will be there only sometimes anyway, I will suck it up as long as it has the quality of the ones in Manhattan).
They had a complimentary valet, so you didn't have to find parking or anything. When we went in, the restaurant looked vibrant. It is a 2 story restaurant, but I only stayed on the first floor, so don't know exactly what it looks like on the second floor.
We started with oysters, then split a ribeye and burger. Ribeye was medium cooked with unique seasoning and sauce made by marc forgione. It was good. I thought the steak was perfectly medium cooked, but I thought it was too perfect so was wondering if the steak was actually sous vide then lightly seared right before serving. Burger was ok. Fries were addicting a little bit I thought. We finished with banana cream pie, which wasn't bad. Service overall wasn't bad, either.
I think I will try this place from time to time when I don't have time to go out to the city but want to experience something similar.
It was an exciting day when I learned of American Cut, a new high-end steakhouse opening locally in north New Jersey. Luckily, I was able to get reservations for dinner just a few days after they opened their doors. I was slightly concerned after reading the mixed reviews from other fellow Yelpers, however, having had dinner here twice in the last month I feel I can confidently clear the air regarding what American Cut really has to offer.
Atmosphere:
American Cut definitely has the feel of a sophisticated establishment, complete with appropriate lighting and wood paneling galore. Upon entering the restaurant they have a roomy, fully stocked bar area where you can grab a drink prior to being seated. I had dinner here on a Thursday and Friday night at around 7pm, and both times the bar was bustling with activity and seemed to draw an after-work polished, professional crowd. As far as the dinner seating is concerned you have a few options (pay attention, this is important) first, they have a few dinner tables toward the back, positioned very close to the bar. Being in close proximity to the bar means increased noise levels can make casual conversation difficult at times. Luckily, they also have tables towards the back left of the restaurant that are further away from the bar area. Last, and most important, they also have a more dedicated upstairs level (complete with its own private bar) which offers a MUCH more intimate atmosphere… It almost feels like a different restaurant on the second level; I highly recommend requesting a table upstairs when you call for reservations if you're looking for a more relaxed, low-key evening during peak dining hours.
Service:
Our server, James was absolutely outstanding! He was extremely attentive to our table and had a great, South Carolina, sense of humor. He was not afraid to make suggestions on the food we were ordering and his subtle suggestions in our selections genuinely made a difference. Once during the meal the general manager, Rob stopped by the table to check in on us; I definitely felt he genuinely cared about our dinner experience on both occasions I dined here.
Food:
Having eaten at American Cut twice, I had the opportunity to sample several of their appetizer and entrée offerings. I found all of their appetizers and steaks to be prepared as one would expect at a steakhouse at this price point. Everything was tasty and properly cooked to perfection. Of the five appetizers I have sampled I found the chili lobster to be one of my favorites on the menu, the broth was quite delicious. Also, if you are a fan of beef tartar, at American Cut it is served in a split bone (see photo) with marrow intact, a unique method of preparation I had not experienced previously.
Summary:
Like any new restaurant, American Cut went through its initial growing pains during the first week of opening, however, I can say with confidence that any negativity you have read in other reviews has been worked out and we had a delightful time. We will certainly be back time and time again!
Came here for the great yelp event thrown by CM Sara, so the rating is solely based on the event. Staff was cordial and attentive, and I really enjoyed the ambience. Perfect for an intimate meal or date night. Wine (pinot grigio and chianti) were good, and the bites were a big hit. I especially enjoyed the sliders and mini crab cakes. Although a bit out of the way for me, will come back and enjoy an actual meal sometime. Biggest downside is the mandatory valet parking. Yes, it's technically free (pre-tip), but it's a hassle to have to wait as the lot gets backed up.
