  1. I was drawn to Clover Deli by its ancient sign. I figured if it can survive NYC this long, it must be a pretty solid business right? I stepped in to try their Italian cookies by pound.

I think it is overpriced to be honest. They charge $16 a lb for these cookies. The selection is decent but not as good as Veniero's. I picked a few and they cost $8! I definitely feel ripped off. The cookies are pretty good but I can get the same cookies at Whole Foods now for $9 a lb!

  2. I come here for cupcakes. They are pretty good. Not the best ever but pretty good. They are also large and cheap and have lots of variety. I was originally giving it a 3 but was thinking about some of the cupcakes I've had and realized there's a reason I always come here over fancier boutique cupcake stores or tourist bakeries…

  3. The only thing I come to Clover Deli for is the ITALIAN RAINBOW COOKIES!  MM'MM. You can get a whole handful (~8) of them for about $2.  I wish this place weren't so conveniently located (right on 34th and 2nd Ave) because they make it soooo easy to pop right in for a cookie or two.

  4. I can't believe this doesn't have any reviews here yet…it is one of the most popular and BEST delis in NYC. Not opinion, consensus according to the world wide web. It is a little pricey, but so is a lot of crap in NYC. After the sticker shock, I got my caprese salad on, and ordered the rainbow cookies. The rainbow cookies…O M G. On point, and perfect. Also ordered some cupcakes because I couldn't NOT order them, they looked so fabulous. If the cookies are an indicator, I am going to be a very happy lady. I will return soon to try their real food that won't turn me into a diabetic, though it would be a good way to depart (insert rainbow cookies here).

  5. Pretty good deli. Looks like they've been there for decades. Clover churns out well made sandwiches and some decent baked goods too. While the heroes are usually delicious, the baked goods can be all over the places in terms of quality. Some things are fresh while some have clearly been sitting there for a bit too long. Overall though, Clover is still a solid place to stop by for a quick bite or snack.

  6. I'm always in the mood for baked goods.  Who isn't?  My friend loves Rainbow Cookies, and so I'm always on the lookout for the best Rainbow Cookie near me.  I had tried a few other places in the area, but the cookies were too dry, there was too much jam, or the flavors were just a little off.  I was so happy to have found this place because the Rainbow Cookies here are almost perfect!  They always seem to taste fresh and have the perfect combination of chocolate, almond, and jam.

The people working here are always friendly, and I never have to wait to get my fix of something sweet.  I also appreciate that you can buy any amount of cookie that you want and you don't need to purchase a minimum amount by weight.

I wish that I could speak more about the other items in their bakery–they all look delicious, but I am only ever really interested in the Rainbow Cookies.  Be on the lookout for an update though after I've sampled a few more of their sweet treats!

  7. The other reviews that claim that the rainbow cookies here are good were not lying. I'm a new fan of rainbow cookies after my boyfriend recently got me some to try, and the rainbow cookies at Clover Deli are on point. I'm actually uncertain if they make any of their baked goods in house or not, but what I really like about the rainbow cookies here is that it is not too sweet, the cake is just the right tight-crumbed texture and the chocolate shell is slightly crisp. The rainbow cookies I got at Fairway were overly sweet and the cake was much too moist and mushy.

The main downside is that the cookies are father expensive at $16 a pound, which limits my excessive consumption of these, i guess.

  8. Mmmmm……butter cookies.

One of those old school spots that has been family run since the 1940's. Love seeing that bygone era neon sign above the storefront all lit up at night. Basically a combo deli and bakery. Come in to get a sandwich and also leave with a pastry item.

Guys who work the counter are friendly. Kind of expensive though. I did drop in here last night on the way home from work after walking by and seeing all the terrific looking butter cookies in the window. Cost me $8 for half a pound. Ok, I have to admit they were good cookies.

    I have no willpower lately.
