  1. Someone has a lazy chef. Okay not a lazy chef but whoever does the prep work here is extremely lazy.

As a person who likes eating vegetables and would even eat the garnish if given the chance I did not like the fact that each dish I had had huge pieces of onion and pepper. Chinese garnish with their broccoli pieces and  carrots carved into flowers I would definitely eat those. But most places try to disguise the fact that they are putting in fillers like tons of onion and pepper. I suggest you make them into smaller pieces. We had a seafood dish with vegetables and the wet saucy beef chow fun but each dish had at least a whole pepper and onion. It was like they were not even bothered to cut the onion and pepper pieces more than once. 2 inch pieces I would have to say. Chokeable sizes. I had to pick through all of the onion to get to the actual beef and noodles. Although we requested the saucy beef chow fun there was a lot of oil as well. Sauce does not equal huge amounts of oil. The seafood and veggies was okay it had fish pieces, squid, scallops, zucchini and celery and snow peas. I am sure it was used to enhance the flavor but the giant onion pieces were just lazy and unforgivable.

We also got the poached chicken with garlic they advertised a fried one but the waiter suggested this poached one instead. It was pretty flavorless despite the garlic pieces. I usually enjoy a lot of garlic but it did not make the chicken any better and had a thin brown watery soy sauce in it.  I did not enjoy this. I did like the mayo walnut shrimp which was average but not a saving grace.

We came here at the suggestion of the MIL who brought us here and she said it was better than Lake Pavilion across the street. Not sure what is better about it besides the okay service and lack of crowds but its possible we ordered all of the wrong dishes this place specializes in. There was a lot of food leftover because we didn't want it and we didn't even want a doggy bag to take it home. Yes they do serve cantonese family style food. I do believe they also serve dim sum so maybe the dim sum is better. Their menus also have a different name from the actual restaurant which is confusing. And although they are a fairly new restaurant their linens look a little bit threadbare already. And this place was not bustling by any means. I saw a couple of non asian people eating here and 2 other families. So I guess if you do not want to suffer the wait at Lake Pavilion this place may save you some time.

  2. I came here one random night for dinner with a couple friends.  The food itself was alright, thought I've definitely had better.  The atmosphere… let's just say there was nothing about it that made me want to stay a bit longer.  The service was terrible and slow.  Our food arrived about 30 minutes after we ordered.  Our bill came to be about $36.  When I offered to pay by credit card, the lady said there was a $38 minimum in order to use credit cards.  What a load of crap; she was obviously short on cash for the evening.

With all the choices around Flushing, I see no reason to go back to this place.

  3. We came here for dinner for our mom. This was an unexpected change from lake pavilion across the street because that place was just way over crowded.

Anyway, we came here and got a table right away. A menu was ordered, and within a few minutes the first dishes arrive.  The food was hot amd fresh and tasty as all of the dishes we ordered ended up on the table within 10 minutes. A whole family of 6 ate for a bill of something like 150 and that's including a few expensive dishes.

What I like about this place is that it is fast and tasty. Lake pavilion is taking more of the customers in the area because of its size, so please don't forget about this restaurant.

  4. During the last few months, I've ordered from this place quite a lot (reason being that it's the closest chinese restaurant to me and I'm too lazy to drive further). The place looks nice and it doesn't look like the typical cheap chinese restaurant.

This restaurant is pricey for chinese food, but the food itself is very good and the portions are large. I've tried a few different dishes (including the General Tsao, the chicken peanut, and the steak stir fry) and they were all very good. But they don't come with rice and the cheapest rice on the menu is $8.

This place doesn't deliver, but luckily I live a few blocks away. I never sat down to eat here, but the people working there aren't the most friendliest when I come to pick up the food. It is a nice restaurant to take a group, but personally there are too many other chinese restaurants in Flushing to go to this pricey one.
