  1. I stopped in because I saw a sign that said "Happy Hour."  That's a rare sight in itself in SoHo.  This is honestly the only spot with a happy hour that I have ever seen in SoHo and I've worked in the area for almost three years.  I've been making it a point to comb through the area more lately.  This place is your pretty standard issue bar/restaurant.  There is, however, no actual taps.  All the beers are bottled; however this also a large selection of liquors as well.  The happy hour specials very limited though.  There's pulled pork sliders which I had that are pretty good; tiny; but pretty good.  The fries are also crispy and golden.  It's a nice late lunch option during happy hour.  The beers on special aren't anything to write home about but it's still SoHo, so finding truly good deals is merely a dream.  It's worth checking out for a quick bite and beer.

  2. Food options in these parts are less than optimal.

My friends and I popped in one night for a quick bite. I shared the following:

-macaroni gratin ($14): macaroni, ham, bechamel + gruyere. This was good, decadent, but good. I appreciated the bits of ham mixed in with the macaroni. I never say no to ham and cheese combinations in any form.

-hamburger with French fries ($17.50): It was a good burger, maybe a little on the dry side, but no real complaints. I also found the patty to be rather bland, but hey, it is what it is. Fries were good and plentiful.

I think Lucky Strike is an offshoot of Balthazar. I also hear that celebrities sometimes eat here. No celebrity sightings for me, but Lucky Strike satiated my hunger.

  3. Little French Bistro in Soho? That plays Today's Hits? And has great Happy Hour?

    Nothing is better.

  4. In this ever-changing city, which I almost don't recognize from one day to the next, it's good to see that some things stay the same. Had a great dinner dudes monthly outing (well, I say monthly because that's what it's supposed to be, but in reality our last one was about a year and a half ago), and was gratified that the food was good and the crowd was robust. This is the New York we love to love; it has a little grit around the edges but is ultimately excellent quality.

I had bacon mac (duh) and it was almost as good as my own. For main I had a salad with steak, goat cheese and walnuts and it was spot on.  Not taking any points off, but they ONLY had chocolate ice cream which took out my first dessert choice, the Root Beer Float. I settled for creme caramel, which was also quite tasty.

Recommend. Go here and experience what a real New York institution is like, before they all disappear.

  5. They have decent happy hour deals esp concerning the neighborhood, but service is terrible…we had to remind them 3-4 times to bring out our food! So I would only go if you have a lot of time to spare

  6. My good friend picked this place as our brunch destination this past saturday and my other friend mentioned that she heard some awesome reviews. I looked at the reviews here on Yelp and was a little skeptical as I saw some 1-2 star reviews and it was quite a few. We metup around 12:15 and was welcomed by the homie Joshua and got a seat by the window.

We started out with drinks and I was told the peach bellini was whats up and Joshua was right…wound up having quite a few of them actually. Breakfast-like options here were quite limited as they are supposed to be a french joint so I went with what I thought was the best option, the Eggs Norwegian. Poached eggs, smoked salmon & hollandaise on an english muffin with a side of mixed greens. Price for it was a little outrageous, and it was just ok. Eggs weren't runny enough to any of our liking (3 out of 4 of us got that dish). Josh was awesome in keeping us entertained and getting the food and drinks to us quickly so mad kudos to him and his service.

  7. Ordered Steak Au Poivre medium.  It was good.  'Good' like .. you finished the food, then said to your friend … 'yeah .. that was good' .. nothing to add more than that.  Didn't blow me away I guess.  It has a casual pub vibe.  Food took a bit long.  I wouldn't have noticed this place if my friend didn't take me there.  If you are looking for a date night?, skip this.

  8. Awesome place! my go-to spot for drinks after work. I think the bartender Tristan is awesome and super friendly. I never got the chef's name…but he's just as equally cool – and he definitely knows how to make a mean pork chop (try their pork chop special, with stuffing and apple sauce).

    🙂
