  1. A solid throwback Jersey diner. It has everything: neon sign on the outside, individual table jukeboxes, 12+ page menu, open 24 hours, giant portions of cheap food for relatively reasonable prices.

    Decor: Truly quintessential diner.
Service: Semi-competent. Our waitress brought me blueberry pie instead of cheesecake and then brought a water refill to someone else's table. She did remember to put my gf's blue cheese crumbles on the side of her salad, and despite a messy bill she got all the right charges on it. She was very present. I'll give her a B- instead of a C+.
Food: Ah, diner food. You could make it yourself for much less, but you didn't know what you wanted until you got here. Nothing impresses, but nothing disappoints. It is exactly what the menu says.

I'm not too much of a diner fan, but just by living in Jersey I've been to a few dozen in my life. If someone from out of town was just visiting for a day and asked me "quick, name the most dinery diner in North Jersey," this would be one of my top choices. And for 3 stars, that may come across as faint praise, but at least it's a reason to visit. I again say: You may not be impressed, but you won't be disappointed either.

  2. Best thing about this place is that its open 24 hours a day and has an old school jukebox at most of the tables.

the breakfast sampler of 2 eggs with homefries and toast is gross. The homefries were undercooked and not flavored, barely even warm. Toast was burnt but more of room temp–must have been sitting. and my eggs were just blah. Calamari looks more like onion rings and were hard and rubbery.

    Gross!

  3. I ate here with my dad the other night and we were very pleased! Our server was attentive and friendly and the food was excellent. I ordered the Chicken Orzo soup to start with and it was very good. It definitely had that homemade chicken soup taste to it. My dad started with a greek salad- I tried it and it tasted very fresh and I enjoyed the dressing they put on it. I was in the mood for a turkey club sandwich, which I asked for with no tomatoes and the mayo on the side. They followed my order perfectly and I was very pleased with the way the sandwich tasted. The fries it came with were nice and crispy too. My dad ordered the Moussaka, which I didn't try, but he said was delicious. We then shared a piece of their "World's Best Cheesecake" and asked for pineapple topping on it. The cheesecake was SO good and creamy and the pineapple topping added sweetness to the already delicious flavors in the cheesecake. I always like coming here because the place gives me that old fashioned diner feel and homemade taste.

  4. For me it's home and there is a piece of me in every booth.  I have been going here since the mid 70s as a sprout.  Excusing my obvious bias it is definitely the best diner in the area.  People may take umbrage with that but oh well.  They do an excellent cheeseburger, all the standard diner and breakfast fare.  Anything else I would not order as those are things you should not come to a diner for.  Now that I am on the other side of the river, the Hudson not the Passaic, I still visit whenever I am in the area.

  5. Used to be my go-to late night eatery/diner. Not anymore.

The quality of the food has only been on a steady decline. Breakfast menu (eggs, bacon, toast, pancakes) is far from outstanding or delicious. Same for their tenders and other quick bites one likes to eat after a few drinks.

With other diners being so close (Tops, Tick Tock), I'm inclined to skip Arlington's and drive the few extra minutes for food that I won't be unsatisfied with.

  6. This was a tough one. Three stars or four? The food was perfectly ordinary yet our server was superb. So, three stars for the food. An additional star for the excellent service.

We took an early evening walk at nearby Richard DeKorte Park. Built up an appetite and took the quick run down route 7 to this inviting looking place. Chicken fingers for the boy. Corned beef hash, scrambled eggs, well done home fries and rye toast for me. Everything was tasty but like my son said, "ordinary."

As we were leaving, a patron attempted to go "outside" before paying his bill. Nice move by the manager seeing through that nonsense.

We liked this place more then the nearby Schuyler Diner. I'm sure we will be back.

  7. Bland, tasteless food. I swear, it was as if they were cooking for old people on a restricted diet.

I ordered the filet of sole grilled with lemon & butter. Didn't taste any lemon, butter or seasoning. It was as dry as a bone. My husband had fish & chips and said it wasn't much better. Service was good when we got there and then fell off sharply. Not sure if our waitress was pulled for other tables or what.

Good location, decent booths, they still have table juke boxes, but the food sucks. This place was much better years ago.

  8. Not a huge fan of this place. In all honesty, I think the food here is only worth 2 stars but because they filmed a movie that I really liked here, (running scared) so that warranted an additional star.

The food is just so average, I've had wraps, omelettes and quesadillas and all the food just looked like it was thrown on the plate with no care.

It's just mediocre diner food, with tops down the road I really don't see why anyone would come here, nostalgia, because it's open 24 hours? I'm not really sure.

As for myself, pass on it and head to tops.
