Tick-Tock Diner
“The disco fries are my favorite in the area, and it's always clean.”
“Like the Park West Diner a ways up the road past where Route 3 turns into Route 46 West, this diner is a great place to stop on the highway when you've got the munchies.”
“As they were observing Passover, they were both very excited to see Matzo ball soup on the menu.”

Miss NJ Diners, I know this is not the king of diners but they do have all teh necessary components-great breakfast, Taylor Ham and Cheese, and the desserts in the case. We ate here a couple times on our pass through Clifton and it was a decent diner with decent service and prices. I will not compare it to the Jefferson Diner, which is my fave, This is a decent place to fill your diner needs and get a gyro….
Quickly seated on New Year's Eve at a booth seat. The server was with us very quickly with waters, but it took awhile for her to come back and take our orders. Ordered food and drinks and about 20 mins later we received our food. The food was tasty, pretty standard diner food.
I think our poor waitress must have been run off her feet cause she ended up pouring coffee into my tea mug and then it took ages for the bill to come.
Overall I enjoyed the food, but maybe they could have had a bit more staff that day.
Solid dinner experience. Location is great off the highway. Plenty of parking and seating. Nothing standing out on the menu. Sat at the counter and got some breakfast. No complaints. Waitress was a doll.
Great menu, quality Jersey decor, good variety, super fast, and clean – but not the best wait staff compared to other Dirty Jersey Diners
Pros:
1) Breakfast menu has some real gems on it, like Nutella french toast for the ladies, or amazing breakfast sausage (don't think about the calories or how it is made, just enjoy)
2) The menu is massive, like any diner, but it has some unique items and some really good items you don't see on diner menus
3) It is clean, they do a good job at cleaning up tables, floors, bathrooms, etc. which is really appreciated
4) Fast as hell! You order, and bam, you got food.
5) Kitschy decor, but in a good way
6) Adequate parking, easy to get to
Cons:
1) Waitstaff isn't great, we had to beg one of the other waiters to get us a water refill. We got our food, and we did not get checked on, ever. We had to literally grab our waitress to get our check, and she simply dropped it and bailed. No thank you, no nothing. It has happened like that before, it is hit or miss. Maybe it is just me, but diners have to have great waitstaff, or else the whole experience goes way down.
2) Again on the service, we asked for a side of Nutella, and they brought it out, but they didn't tell us they would charge us like $1.85 for a little tiny scoop (the entire jar costs like $4). At least tell me in advance to expect an up-charge, don't surprise me when I am at the cash register, or worse, hope I don't notice. I would simply say "okay, thanks, please bring it to us anyway" and then I wouldn't be upset at the end of my meal when I am walking away. BEWARE!
Tip to the consumer:
Ask for bigger waters, not the little tiny ones the bus boys drop down, and use a straw to avoid the heavily used water glasses as much as possible.
Tip to the restaurant:
Invest in some waitstaff training, and always, always follow up after you have some bus boy or food runner bring us food – check for needed condiments, drop some extra napkins, refill waters or drinks (basics).
Tick-Tock Diner – savior of many late night meals.
It's your typical diner but with pizazz. When you had a few alcoholic beverages in ya, everything tastes gourmet. The bonus is no ill effects the next day.
Mozz sticks are a good starter.
Cheeseburger deluxe with disco fries are a staple! You can't veer from this. One of the best disco fries around. I hadn't been here in ages until recently. Sober the food tastes a tad off. Don't get me wrong it's good but not great.
Good breakfast sandwiches too.
When you go to this diner, don't order non-diner items. I mean who orders pasta at a diner? Veal? Seafood…oh god. My philosophy is get what they specialize in and you will be happy.
Prices have gone up since the glory days of the 90's and early 2000's.
Service is hit or miss…but more hit.
ENJOY!
I'm disappointed I can't get a quick lobster tail
But I come by the diner often for 4 bowls of Matzoh Ball soup almost daily
My husband likes thier sandwiches and stuff
My son likes the Mickey Mouse platter
The service is good.
But they really won me over with thier MB soup
I could live on it really
Parking is easy
Servers are friendly
Thier rice pudding is nice too
Hungover
We hit the famous Tick Tock coming back from a long weekend in
Joy-Zee. Sporting a rough hangover, we ordered a bunch of diner grease favorites. Grilled cheese, mashed potatoes, and a fried chicken sandwich. All of the items were decent and helped fight the splitting headache.
Our waitress was a bit surly but that is what you want when go to an old school diner cart. The diner itself has that traditional setup with the long bar seating with the stainless steel swiveling seats.
The Tick Tock plays the role well and helped cure our hangover.
No complaints.
Thanks
Always got the disco fries after going out. It's open all the time so perfect midnight munchies spot! Disco fries are a slobbering bunch of goodness, just like most of the customers around 2am. I mean that in the most sincere way.
