  1. Very solid option for late night, cheap, tasty food. Very standard hot dogs, burgers, mozzarella sticks, etc. This one is really no different from the others in the city so you kind of know what you are getting into when you walk in the door.

  2. Showed up on Saturday night or Sunday early morning. I don't remember.
This is the place where your stomach begs for some food after a night where you obviously only had drinks. My friends got the hot dogs with a little bit of chilly. I had the burger with fries.
It was an OK place . Nothing fancy- I did not have any expectation but to eat fat food and pray for going back home safe.

  3. Bleh. Being from the DC area, someone told me this place is like NY's Ben's chili bowl. I suppose it is like NY's ben's chili bowl, but did not taste nearly as good. The chili cheese dog is very salty, and not enjoyable to eat all.

  4. Got some take out here at around 4:30am in the morning so I don't expect much, but I did expect a full menu and they didn't have it. They only had hot dogs and fries and the time. Ordered 2 hot dogs with sauerkraut and red onions, a chili cheese fry, a corn dog, and a chili dog. The hot dogs tasted as expected  the fries were okay, but some fries were kind stale. Corn dog and chili dog was okay. Papaya king on st marks taste a lot better, but I'm not sure if that's because when I went there, it was during normal hours. I'm sure at 4:30am, not much tastes fresh and good. The prices are fair though except for the corn dog that costs $2.50. All together, the bill was $12, but for a starving person at 4:30am, tasted okay. This place is good for cheap, quick eats. They usually make burgers, fish sandwich, breakfast, Philly cheese steaks, chicken fingers, fries, knish, hot dogs, specialty drinks, etc. Variety they offer are good though. Also prices are good, you can get 2 hot dogs + drink for like $4.50.

  5. Papaya Dog is a New Yorker's saving grace when you're short on cash but still want decent food. Now of course decent is relative here, this may not be 5 star dining, but you can get two juicy frankfurters with all the fixings for just $5. You just can't beat that deal! Word of advice: stick to just the dogs, nothing else here is good. The fries here are soggy and oversoaked in oil, and I saw a guy order a burger here and the other guy working behind the counter went to the freezer and took out a FROZEN beef patty, reheated it and made the burger. Ewww.

  6. Used to be better, but I think I went to a different location last time. Still solid hot dogs. You can get 2 hotdogs and a drink for $4.50 and I'm sure that's cheaper than the dirty water dogs on the street. If you're looking for a meal cheap and quick in the city it's a decent choice. Skip the knish! Old and chewy.

  7. It's a good NYC dog, I'll give them that. Just what I needed when I first landed in the city. They've got a lot of other options too so you're not limited to just dogs. They ran out of papaya juice tho…so there's that.

  8. Combine the cheapest wiener and the cheapest buns you can find and you'll have yourself a papaya dog. I'd choose a Costco hotdog over a papaya dog any day of the week.
The papaya juice tastes artificial and it contains very little, if any, papaya juice.

The place is conveniently located next to the subway station.
