Great Mediterranean food! This place is a hidden gem in a shopping plaza full of Chile's, Red Robin's, Crapplebees types, etc. I always get the chicken platter with double salad. The pita it comes with is always hot from the grill and the garlic mayo sauce is so good i could eat it with a spoon. The chicken is always grilled perfectly and if you get fries or rice they are okay. The side order of hummus available is good but is a small single serving. The service is always great and the young lady that works the front counter remembers everyones name and past order even if you've just come once, amazing! If you have to grab something to eat in Harmon Meadown; this is the place to go!
Good greek restaurant, plenty of food and tasty. The server (possibly) the owner was quite overwhelming. Obviously it was her nature, however, it was just a bit much for us. We were planning on having dessert, however the check was brought as we were finishing our meals.
I am a huge lover of tzatsiki sauce and this places was a 3 on a scale of 10.
Definitely pretty good, and a nice alternative to the chain restaurants in the Plaza for a quick lunch.
We came for dinner after shopping, and we were the only ones in the restaurant for a while. Later we were joined by a family and someone picking up Take Out, but they did not seem very busy.
The cashier (owners daughter I gathered), was friendly enough. Although afterwards, she was significantly more friendly towards the other patrons. They all, however, seemed to be regulars. It seemed like you get exceptional service if you're a regular, but a newcomer, not as much.
The food was good and the prices were reasonable. My falafels were very good. The rice was average. The salad was fresh and the dressing was good. My husband enjoyed his Gyro plate. The inside is cute and comfortable.
Shopping in Secaucus can make a girl hungry, but the problem is that Secaucus is a food lover's nightmare. Stefano's is a breath of fresh air in a shopping hub filled with crappy chain restaurants. I found it by accident one afternoon and decided to try the food on a whim.
I took a chance on hummus with pita and also a lentil soup. However, the girl behind the counter almost made me regret my decision to take a chance on this place. She was extremely slow to take orders and seemed really flighty. I was so skeptical of her ability to get my order right that I observed everything she scribbled and even kept my eyes on her the 15 minutes or so it took for my food to be ready.
For the most part, the wait was worth it. I loved the soup! I could tell that it was fresh and homemade. I even liked the fact that they offered me fresh lemon to squeeze into it. The hummus, however, was not as smooth as it could be. I wouldn't go back for the hummus.
When in Secaucus, I'd definitely return to Stefano's for fresh food. Based on the other options available, why wouldn't a person go to a family-run restaurant like Stefano's? Just don't expect to eat quickly.
This is a great place to come if you're near the expo center but don't want to eat at a chain restaurant. Portions are large, and they're open to customizing dishes as you want/ need.
I had the moussaka platter with a double side salad. The "special home made dressing" is really just oil and vinegar with some herbs, but does finish the salad off nicely. The moussaka was again, generously portioned. It has a consistency of a soup or stew, and is a mix of chick peas with tomato and eggplant. Somewhere between chili and marinara sauce, but really all together delicious. The pita bread was also very good – a little more butter tasting that most others.
Friends had the falafel (about six or seven to an order and given good reviews) and chicken. The sides of tahini and garlic mayo were very well received.
Service is attentive and friendly… expect a bit of conversation if you offer it. Food is brought out quickly.
Decor is simple and clean. Tables are suited for parties of 2-4 but can surely be pushed together for larger groups.
Updating this review to add an additional star… I ate left-overs from Stefano's for two days after my initial meal, and each time I was left wanting more. That was some of the best eggplant I've ever had (in the moussaka).
This restaurant is right out of My Big Fat Greek Wedding and I loved it-one of the best Greek meals I have ever had. I went for lunch and it was packed but the line moved quickly. It is family owned and the staff is so nice and welcoming! I had a hard time deciding what to order as I wanted everything on the menu. I went with the falafel with rice, pita and a Greek salad. The falafels were delicious and not dry at all, the rice and Greek salad was super tasty-they make their own salad dressing which I highly recommend. The hummus was not as thick as I am use to but it was delicious and perfect for dipping your pita bread into. For dinner they have the same menu and it is BYOB.
Stopped here while shopping in the area. I was pleasantly surprised to find a non-chain restaurant here as every other place around is. Definitely a little pricey, but overall the quality of the food was good. The menu is limited, but you can turn an appetizer into a sandwiche or platter. I had the Tabouli salad (large size served with 4 pita triangles) and a falafel sandwich. The sandwich was good, and the tabouli flavor was very good, although I did not see any bulgur in it, but it was very good anyway. I would come back if I was in the area. The service was friendly. I wish they had tzatziki on the menu.
