Great menu selection and food was tasty. Decor was nice and modern but it was crowded and pretty noisy. I've seen better dessert selection at other diners and parking lot is barely existent. But I saw other things on the menu I can't wait to try so looking forward to going again.
So I'm going to go with 4 stars because the staff takes it there. I definitely will be back- they seem to have a great assortment of food and all very fresh. Oven baked pizza made on site. Juicing area, desert case (of course). I got the salmon and mango salad which was so close to being amazing except the salmon had absolutely no seasoning. Go with the balsamic- it's house made and sooooo good I brought some home with me. I don't know the brand of dressings they use for but I didn't like any of them. The bathroom are clean. Parking in the immediate lot can be a hassle but I was told that there is another lot about a block away.
This is my new favorite diner in the Essex County. My friend and I stumbled upon it a while ago and it's been our regular spot for breakfast since. Every time it never fails to deliver. They do a great breakfast here – whether you want eggs and home fries, French toast, Belgian waffles, or one of their omelets (my boyfriend is a fan of the garden one).
Also, they make a pretty good pizza! It's good for two/three people. They make pizzas on order until 9pm I believe. There's also the sauté menu, which is pretty good, but the quality can depend on what night you are there. For the most part, the lunch and dinner options are good. My boyfriend likes the eggplant parm sandwich.
It's a big diner. To the right, there is the section with the diner counter and a few window-side booths. Here, they have televisions. To the left is the larger dining area, which has a combination of booths and tables. It's spacious and not cramped. If you don't want to dine in, I know that many people order to-go or by phone for pick-up. I'm a fan of State-Street Grill and hope keeps doing a good job.
I like this diner for some things and not for others. It's right near work, so we go quite a bit. On this occasion I ordered the Cuban panini and it was good, and they certainly give you a lot of food.
One thing I found strange: my dining companion for that day was a vegetarian and when we were offered the soups with our lunches, not a single soup was vegetarian. Most of the soups were done with chicken stock and the cream of potato had bacon in it. It didn't leave any options for her.
Service is hit or miss depending on the day and where you sit. I've had some truly great servers and some shirkers.
One thing: it's very loud in there. You often can't hear your friends while trying to converse.
The food here is amazing! You get so much food for such little money. Our server Romy made it a great visit. We started with the pizza fries, which were so good we had to force ourselves to stop eating so we had room for our entrees. I had the spinach pie and devoured it. My sister got the moussaka and didn't care for it too much, as the flavor was a bit off, but still pretty decent. Our entrees came with both soup and salad. We practically had to roll ourselves out of there. So much food. I highly recommend it here. Bring your appetite.
My husband and I ordered the free range chicken dinner and the gyro platter to go. They forgot the applesauce for the chicken, the salad that comes with it, and the tzasiki sauce for his platter. When I called to let them know, I was hung up on midsentence! I literally was calling so they could have it ready for when he got there and they just hung up on me! In addition, their idea of italian vegetables was corn, carrots, zucchini, yellow squash… that is either out of the can or unbelievably over cooked with no seasoning, my guess is the former. I used to love this place but I think I'm going to have to boycott just from being hung up on. I could have overlooked this as just one bad experience but then to add insult to injury! You'd be better off eating ramen noodles at home!
I came here for Brunch.
The menu is one word: Overwhelming. For a person like me, who is super indecisive about choosing what I want to eat, it was crazy for me to choose. this isn't a bad thing!
We got parking right in the parking lot, which from what I understand is rare. We walked in and were seated super fast. This place has like a diner look. Our waiter was very attentive.
I ordered a Waffle with strawberries, blueberries, whipped cream, hash browns, and turkey sausage. Firstly, the turkey sausages are more like kielbasa. They are farrr from your average breakfast sausages. No complaints tho, because I liked them!
Our waiter expressed a great amount of gratitude when he received his tip. He came over, and gave my date a hand shake, and said thank you very sternly. Upon us walking out the door, he came back and hugged my date, and said thank you again.
State Street iDiner is our local diner. Needless to say we order frequently from them either to go or to dine in. On this particular rainy Saturday, we were ordering to go and had questions about the seafood combo. During our first call ( notice first call) we asked about the type of fish with the order and the person on the phone was short with us and the phone miraculously hung up! We called back and the phone ( second call) rang and rang and rang. I called back from a different phone and they picked up ( strange right?) I inquired again about the seafood combo and my response was met with dead air and silence…..I was close to not ordering at all but decided to go with something of lesser cost. While picking up my order, I spoke with the manager, Chris. Chris was great. He was apologetic and made sure my order was accurate. He offered us free dessert and was gracious enough that I will be back vs making the trek to Tops. Just beware the folks answering the phone, they may hang up on you and be a little rude. The food is decent diner food.
