I work in the area and often come here for lunch. Most options are Middle Eastern inspired, but they have a few more streamlined lunch choices like egg salad and tuna. The ingredients are very fresh and everything I have tried has been delicious. I would recommend the avocado salad. It comes in a pita and is full of flavor. I've also tried one of their platters, I believe it was the Greek platter, which was fantastic. Great portions but not heavy, so you don't feel uncomfortably full afterwards. Something I also really love about Broadway Au Lait is the fact that it has a seating area with probably about seven small tables or so. It's so hard to find deli-style spots that also offer seating!
Very reasonable prices and good portions. Had the Mediterranean platter and an avocado salad. Both were very good. My husband had the Colombian coffee and said it was fine. Will definitely be back when I am on campus studying and I need a quick bite.
We stopped here on our quest for caffeinated beverages and I was happy to find such a wide ranging selection of Twinings and Yogi teas. I got Irish breakfast. My friend got a baklava, because what's better than baklava in the morning. The space is pleasant and well-lit, and it's in a good location, close to Barnard but not right on top of it.
LOVE this place. Underrated, down to earth spot. The staff is friendly and they'll favor regulars – def helps given the credit card limit of $8.
The coffee varies but usually it's delicious. Great bagels but the cream cheese is just average. They have chocolate covered Graham's for just 50 cents! A great mid-day treat.
They have a huge variety of packaged snacks and drinks as well – never seen that many kind bars in my life!
Nice chill spot for morning coffee and a bagel or a breakfast quiche. The interior is not fancy or even that clean-feeling–duct taped chair cushions anyone? But the place was affordable and had decent coffee.
Would definitely come again just to hang out or meet with someone. Sometimes a low-key spot is just what you need
Good middle Eastern lunch: a highlight of which was the avocado salad. Grape leaves were filling and yum yum yum. I had the platter which gives you a choice of 3. More than enough!!
Plenty of place to sit – so good for group work, or study. A cappuccino if you need it.
Man, I am still bummed I wasted one of my meals here when I had a limited time in New York, but it was getting late and this place was close and came recommended and the Yelp rating checked out.
I walked in to somewhere that looked more like a convenience store than a restaurant but still thought this could be one of those hole-in-the-wall hidden treasures. They market themselves as vegetarian but it's really just Kosher Dairy, since they have quite a few fish dishes. I got the veggie burger and the avocado salad and was given them right away from the display case.
The roll that the veggie burger was served on was good, but that's about all the good things I could say. Sure, I've had my share of bad veggie burgers, but I've definitely never been to a vegetarian restaurant that had one as bad as this. It looked so promising and then just tasted like peas and carrot mush. I got to a point where I just figured that eating any more would be a waste of calories and moved on to the avocado salad. I do have to say that especially for a pre-prepared salad that's been sitting out all day, the avocados were perfectly ripe with not a brown spot to be found. But there were only a few pieces in the bowl and the rest of the uninspired salad (lettuce, watery tomato) was drowning in bland dressing. Yeah, I know, they scoop it out of the bowl so I probably just got unlucky and didn't get all that much avocado, but let's just say it wasn't enough to salvage the meal.
This is probably a good place to buy gum or soda or chips and for a Kosher restaurant it's pretty inexpensive but ultimately, it's a disappointment.
Usually come here for some coffee and snacks. The service is great, the coffee is perfect, a good variety of snacks, and a whole separate room for patrons dining in. I haven't tried any of their lunch items yet, but I soon will and I'm pretty confident that they won't disappoint.
