  1. Papaya King poses itself as a New York institution, beloved by many. The inside is decorated to match this persona and it works, it looks legit.

    PROS:
    -fast service
    -hot food
    -juicy hot dog
-great snap to the hot dog casing
    -lightly toasted bun
    -cheap

    CONS:
-toppings can easily overwhelm the flavor of the hot dog
-food is hot to the point that you can't really taste it
-bun is toasted, but no butter
-cash only (not a big deal to me)

I'm giving this 3 stars for now because the hot dog I ordered was too hot to taste and the toppings totally overwhelmed. I think Papaya King has the potential to be great, so I'll definitely be back

  2. Checked out this new Papaya King on a late Sunday night and it was empty.  I'm generally a fan of the brand and was excited about this new store, which was bright and clean. I got the original combo (2 dogs and a drink) for $5. My drink choice was the Papaya which came in a prepackaged bottle vs being poured from their fountain which is OK to me. The hot dogs were solid, similar to the other stores. Thin but crisp from being on the grill.  They also put the hot dogs in a neat plastic container. The ads say the dogs don't have Msg, gluten or preservatives

Btw they charge tax so the combo was $5.44. Also currently they are cash only but I did see an ATM. Will be interesting to see if this store can get enough volume since Fulton Hot Dog King is a few blocks away (albeit it closes much earlier and also charges $2 a hot dog but incld tax. Hours for papaya King are currently until midnight (or 11pm on Sundays)
