I stumbled upon this place but never really thought of trying it for lunch until today. I had the chicken pad Thai lunch special with the spring roll.
Service was fast and frankly it was quite empty when I went to pick up my order. That should have been a warning about how their quality of food is.
Their portions were quite small and didn't taste that appetizing. I had to force myself to eat at least half of my food to feel better about not wasting as much food. My pad Thai just tasted like vinegar all the way . spring roll was just 1 small roll that was about the size of my index finger.
Would I try this place again? For 8 dollarish…I think I can get a better decent meal else where.
my boyfriend and i have been here both in-person and ordered online countless times, and we've never had a bad experience. he loves the boneless ribs, and i usually get sesame chicken. i've also tried their cheesy wontons, which were wonderfully delicious, and the one time that i ordered wonton soup the broth tasted like dishwater (i didn't finish it, even after adding some sriracha sauce). overall nice place for decent chinese food.

Stopped by for a quick msg-rich and cheap dinner. The food was decent but the service, especially the young woman taking orders, was complete crap. Interesting how rude some people are even though you are giving them your money. I guess it is true that you get what you pay for. $8.00 dinner special but you may have to pay extra for decent service.
I use to LOVE this place back in college. they had amaaaaaazing general tso's chicken and fried rice. We came back downtown just to eat here. yes, it use to be that good. The chef's have changed. The general tso was like it was from a 3rd rate chinese food chain out in the suburbs. Thickly coated, it just looked wrong. it looked like sweet and sour pork that they dipped in general tso sauce. bad. bad. bad. bad. and sad. compared to how it used to be. Oh and PRICEY. totally NOT worth it. sorry
This is an above average Chinese takeout place. They have lunch/dinner specials for $6.95 where you can get a dish with white or brown rice, and a spring roll or soup or soda. Standard takeout stuff is offered here (sesame chicken, beef and broccoli, etc.)
However, their food is less greasy than other Chinese takeouts. The choice of brown rice is nice as well. If you take the food to go, the presentation is also better. They put the dish into a plastic container tray (instead of the cheap styrofoam most other takeouts use). Portions are not huge, but definitely filling.
Since my boyfriend was out of town and I didn't feel like cooking, I stopped by Red House for dinner. It is mainly a delivery/takeout joint so I felt less embarrassing to eat by myself.
Anyway, I ordered their dinner special of Shrimp Chow Fun with Hot and Sour Soup. My food came really quick. However, they didn't give me chopsticks. This is usually a bad sign because authentic Chinese restaurant always gives you chopsticks whether they think you could use them or not.
So I had a sip of my soup; it is pretty good. It has tons of ingredients in them and is "hot" and "sour" as described.
The main dish though, is rather disappointing. This is one of the easiest dishes on the menu and you could hardly screw it up. Nevertheless, they did. It is bland, and pretty greasy. I was trying to finish them but I couldn't. Eventually, I had to ask for some hot sauce to add some extra flavor.
I am guessing at this kind of places you need to order walnut shrimp or sesame chicken because deep fried dishes are usually safe.
3.5 star. This place has been around for 16 years. but it's my 1st time ordering from them.
super fast delivery, from the phone call till the food arrival at my door, it took them less than 10 mins.
Daily lunch special until 4pm.
The jumbo shrimp with string beans was spicy and delicious.
Wonton soup, good.
Spring roll, a bit pathetic, avoid that.
Overall, I think its neighbor, Young Chow Restaurant, is better in most regards.
