This place is always under new management, but the same size as any. I'll only be talking about dim sum (which means opening hours up until lunch time when servers come around in carts).I always find myself coming here than the other dim sum places around because the service is just better and the prices are good (note that prices vary upon dish size and possibly the day, cheaper on weekdays I believe. Anyhow, dim sum itself is very cheap).
I've come here around 11 am (considered their later hours for dim sum) and their food is still very hot and fresh. They offer many noodle bowls as well.
It gets crowded around here on weekends and it's very small so keep that in mind. However, you probably won't find fresher and hotter food anywhere else as many kitchens don't constantly put out food.
The service here is great, always offering a variety of dishes.
The dishes themselves are pretty staple to any dim sum place. I feel like they use a lot of oil to fry things, but oil is oil. Note, you will be eating things like chicken claws and beef intestines. But they are so delicious!
I've never come here during lunch or dinner time so I can't speak to that, but dim sum is great here.
Impromptu dinner before my birthday brought us into the new Chinatown that's forming in Sheepshead Bay, and so the fried pork chops were yummy, enough crisp and sweetness, the veggie sautéed in garlic sauce was pretty grand as well, and they serve watermelon at the end to cleanse your palate. I think I will be spending more time in this less crowded Chinatown in the making.
my family often go out to celebrate birthdays and the like, and came across this new restaurant that popped up not too long ago on ave U. the food was mediocre and bland compared to the other family style restaruants in brooklyn that we usually go to. the space is cramped and tight as well. it was not memorable, other than the fact that we won't be coming back too soon.
I live 3 avenues away & came here monthly for last year, namely for the Saturday morning dim sum where it's really packed but for a good cause: steady, reliably authentic Toishanese-style dimsum keeps all returning. At others times, their menu is very Yue cuisine with large portion sizes at a very fair price. Service is the normal, somewhat better than the usual curt since it's a smaller place. I've had too many items here to start though regular favorites are the white spicy fish fillets in chili sauce & the oil-tossed green vegetables. Truly, hearty favorites we have a hard time replicating at home. I always feel welcome here with a very hearty, heart-felt meal waiting each time. Note 1 50" tv on rear wall plays TVB. Weekend evenings often mean a small event will have booked 4-5 tables, leaving another 4-5 for un-rsvp-ed patrons.
I only come here because my grandparents have a good relationship with the owner. I don't prefer this place for many reasons.
1. The Shiu Mai has a shrimp on top but the shrimp is not de-veined. Eww! Visible black poopy shrimp line. Appetizing?
2. There is one dim sum cart lady there during the weekdays. She is the crabbiest waitress ever. She has a scowl expression on all the time and does everything like she's annoyed at you.
3. The dim sum selection is very limited and kitchen orders during a non busy hour can take as long as half an hour.
The Char Sui here is pretty good though.
Cheap but the food can be a little salty. The food overall has beautiful presentation along with flavor profiles of Guangdong dishes. Waiters are very friendly and alert on any situation. Would recommend requesting less salt in all dishes.
