  1. Yay, a new food spot that's good enough to add to our regular rotation! We ordered takeout this past week and were very impressed. We got the dumplings in spicy sauce, dan dan noodles, Kung Pao chicken, and garlic broccoli. The only dish that was disappointing was the dan dan noodles. The noodles themselves were just a bit mushy and didn't really have that much flavor. However the dumplings were great – I had to restrain myself from eating them all.

We also really enjoyed the garlic broccoli and Kung Pao chicken. My husband was especially impressed with the quality of the chicken. It was definitely better than what you might normally get from a takeout joint.

My one quibble is that the food was not as spicy as I was expecting. It really just had a hint of heat, which was disappointing. Next time I would definitely request for them to make the food spicy. We can handle it – I swear!

  2. This place is a hole in a wall.

I came here for the end of year lunch with other fellow Chinese co-workers. We shared a lot of dishes. There were dan dan noodles, A bacon dish, a celery dish, the fish with spicy sauce over cabbage and plenty of rice to cool the spiciness.

I would come back here to get my Schezwan cuisine fix. Cathay 22 on route 22 is too foo foo for lunch and Dragon palace in Iselin can be too far and I've noticed their lunch portion got smaller.

I recommend parking a block away and they are located near the traffic circle.

I think CC is accepted here. We paid cash when we came here.

  3. Big fan, probably my favorite szechuan food in tri-state area. Funny it is not in Chinatown or flushing as you would expect. Love dry pepper series and tofu fish.

  4. Although still easily the best and most authentic Chinese food in the area, there are certain easily solved issues:

    1. The hostess can either be very sweet (joking with you, pouring your byo wine, etc) or very bad, as shown by some of the reviews. I had never seen the issues mentioned by some posters until last night, when she was so busy chatting with a large group of Chinese customers that we had to ask 4 times before getting tea and 5 times without getting ice cubes for the water. She also gave us the lunch menu, rather than the dinner menu, so the bill was higher than expected.

    2. Although they finally added a small refrigerator with some soft drinks, they are the only restaurant I have ever been to which often serves water that is not cold–if you are not going to add ice, at least run the tap a while!

    3. The food is not as consistent as it used to be.

    4. It appears from reviews that they lack the steady delivery business to have a regular driver, so they wind up annoying customers who call for delivery and can't get it.

    5. Last night they did not give a discount for paying in cash as they used to and one reviewer thinks they do not accept credit cards any longer.

  5. "That food was YUMMY mommy!" Was my 6 year old's reaction to their Dan Dan Noodles. Also LOVE the dumplings in chilli oil and the fish flavored chicken. The owner was very nice as well as all the other employees. We found out that their chef also used to be the chef at Han Dynasty in Philadelphia, where we first ate authentic Sichuan deliciousness. What a small world! We also met him on our way out and he was wearing a Han Dynasty T-shirt lol. Large portions and great value. Who needs cheap fortune cookies when you can have awesome and really good Sichuan Chinese food??? Anyone who complains about that has never really eaten really good delicious Sichuan food and doesn't know what they're talking about. We are super happy that there is FINALLY GOOD Chinese food in this area. After living here for 4 years and being disappointed and trying umpteen places, we are happy to find a gem of a place at Sichuan Dynasty. Wishing them lots of success! We will be back and also plan to order take out hehe.

  6. Ordered a lot of food from here. It was so good. I will definitely like to try to make a trip to the restaurant and have everything freshly cooked. My favorite was the spicy duck necks, even though I am not a big fan of duck necks. The cumin meat dish was very good as well.

  7. First a disclaimer: I have played basketball in the past on the same team as the owner of this restaurant. I fact I only heard of this restaurant after he invited us there for a celebration dinner after one of our very rare basketball league wins!

That said, this is not a bad restaurant. Nice ambiance in a small setting (only 4 tables I believe) and byob.

Portions are large. Service is great.  I've been here twice and both times we were served by the manager who also acts as the waitress. She even chopped my  limes for us when I brought some margarita to mix up.

Good double cooked pork and fish fillet in Sichuan spicy sauce. Shredded beef with peppers was a bit meh. Dan Dan noodles had a great taste. Portion size was large for everything we ordered. All the dishes were greasy which is par for the course with Sichuan food.

  8. I was in the mood for some Chinese food, and decided to pick up some takeout from Sichuan Dynasty, after having read reviews on Yelp.  Driving up to the place, i wasn't sure i wanted to go in, as the location of the restaurant is right off of the circle in Westfield, and it involves backing out of their parking area.

    I'm glad i went in!

Menu was not something i was used to (very different than the standard Chinese restaurant), so it took me a few minutes to figure out what i wanted.

I ordered the chicken with chili and cumin, and also the dumplings.

The Dumplings – The order came with a lot of dumplings (i think 6-8, in the small portion).  it also had a chili oil sauce that they were placed in.  In regards to flavor, the wrap was decent, and so was the filling, but there was just too much of the wrap compared to the filling. Not a bad dumpling, but not something i would order again.

The Chicken – a decent portion for the lunch size, and it came with some rice on the side.  Chicken was cooked perfectly, with pieces of dry and fresh chilies, onions, garlic and ginger chunks, peppers, etc.  Flavor was amazing, and not like anything i have had before at a Chinese restaurant.

I can't wait to go back and have more, and try some of the other items.

Definitely a good place for lunch and take out!
