  1. A lot of people have said this is the best Chinese food on Long Island. While I agree that it was good, I wouldn't say it was the best I've ever had.

We all tried the lettuce wraps. The filling was good, but the lettuce could have used some jazzing-up.

I had the chu chu chicken, which I guess gets its name from the sizzling sound it makes when it comes out. It had a very unique flavor (that or the "chu" in chutes). It was served with a ton of veggies from mushrooms and baby corn to bamboo chutes. While it was good, it's not something I would rush back to have again.

The meal served its purpose in fulfilling my Chinese food craving, but I'd rather venture out to Elaine's in Great Neck.

  2. i had a chance to come here with upper level management people from my company, and i was super impressed with this place and the quality of their food. granted they ordered all the expensive things on the menu, the food was still superb.

i also came here on another occasion with my co-workers, where i couldn't order the most expensive things on the menu, but the food was still really good. i liked tangerine beef and  the shredded beef with garlic sauce. sounds like regular chinese take-out menu items, right? well, i can tell you right now that this is definitely not your run-of-the-mill chinese restaurant.

  3. A solid 3.5 stars.  This type of Chinese restaurant doesn't exist anymore as a throwback to the cuisine of the 70's that dominated the Chinese food scene.  Fried noodles in duck sauce and hot mustard, egg drop soup, moo shu pork and other menu items from my childhood brought me back to the days when THIS was Chinese food and not the varied cuisine of each province we find all over NYC these days.

Decor was clean and this place was REALLY popular with the locals on a Friday.  A little worried that we were the only Asians in the place other than staff but people I trust recommended I try this place.  Crispy spicy beef with carrots and celery brought me back to my childhood, General Tso's chicken was crispy and in a nice thin tangy sauce (not the gloppy mess most are accustomed to) and Peking Duck was good (not real Peking Duck but close enough).  Service was polite and prompt.  Worth a trip down memory lane if you're so inclined.

  4. Very clean food, great service, comfortable atmosphere. The portions are the perfect size for sharing several dishes. The valet parking is a cool feature, which prevents people from arguing about finding spots in a small lot. Easy to get to if coming from the East, but a nightmare when getting out if going East.

  5. My favorite Chinese inspired restaurant in the burbs. I'm partial to the shredded beef with chili peppers. Great fried rice. Fresh, fast and flavorful with a nice sit down dining room. This is a proper restaurant and the staff is excellent. If you are looking for authentic cuisine from the far east look elsewhere but if you are craving Chinglish cuisine you found your Shangri-La.

  6. I'm surprised this place doesn't have at least 4 stars. Been going here since high school and love the food! Delish, fresh, love the free tea! Service is on point. One of my local favorites!

  7. Maybe I'm biased…I'm not native Chinese, and didn't grow up with it in my house, but I did grow up with a very close friend who was.  With him, I have eaten authentic Chinese many, many times.  So when I look to eat chinese, I want very authentic.

This place is not it.  It's ok, but it's subdued.  It's expensive also.

The decor is very nice.  If you're taking someone there, it's a very nice place to sit and eat.  But if you're looking for good quality, authentic chinese food, look elsewhere.

  8. Stopped here for a late lunch today.   I would love to give them 4 stars as the food was really, really good.   Since it was lunch, it was also very reasonable priced.

The reason they do not get 4 stars is the service was TERRIBLE!   Our waiter brought us our menus and then helped the tables on either side of us with the checks and disappeared so quickly we could not even get his attention to place our order.    We had to tell a busboy that we were ready to order.    Once we did, the food came quickly but when it came time to pay, once again, no waiter.    Busboy to the rescue again!    We quickly looked at the bill and gave the waiter the credit card for fear that he would disappear again.
