Golden Dynasty has good service and an upscale dining atmosphere. The food is good, but I've had better Chinese food at other restaurants. However, I'm happy eating here in the mean time. My favorites are chicken and broccoli, any kind of dumpling there, and the cold sesame noodles. Something nice about Golden Dynasty is that they have a wonton eggdrop soup combination. I often can't decide which soup I want, so this solves all my problems! I've gone with friends in small groups, larger groups with family, and on a date with another person. They do serve some alcohol at reasonable prices.
It's a good environment for family parties and celebrations because they have the space to cater to large groups. There are various tanks with large fish which are both entertaining for kids and provide a pleasant aesthetic. You can come here in casual clothing, but the decor implies that it is a more dressy restaurant. They have a decent amount of parking, and the portions are large enough that you'll always leave here full!
Got take out from Golden Dynasty Chinese Restaurant. Wasn't overly impressed.
I had the lo mein with chicken. The noodles were alright, but there just was not much flavor to it. Noodles, scallions, chicken. It could really use some more veggies and some more seasoning, because bland is really what comes to mind. Friends seemed to enjoy the egg rolls.
Also, I find it weird that the menu includes sushi and Chinese food. This is just not at all a combination that I think should go together! You're either good at sushi or Chinese, not both. Pick one!
I'm a little confused by all the bad reviews but this place is pretty good. It's difficult to compare though because all the local sit down places have shut down. Peking House-Closter and Hong Hing (back in the day) were the only places I remember.
This place, in my world, is considered a treat because it beats some of the run of the mill Chinese take out places. So this review is based on just that…take out.
The tiki bar is pretty small when you walk in, and the main dining room seems kind of bland. It definitely seems crowded.
My favorite dish from this place aside from the egg rolls is something called Gemini. This is sliced steak chunks that breaded and fried, much like how Sesame Chicken is prepared. Gemini though is tossed in an orange brown sauce and it's delicious. It's served with Chinese crepes and sauteed green beans.
I do sometimes stop in for a drink before my order's ready and they are heavy handed with the booze….there's a surprise!
Still great food but I recommend staying away from the PuPu Platter (or should I say Poo poo platter because…ahem, well never mind.). The egg rolls and battered chicken on the platter were surprisingly greasy and just, overall, not a good value for $22.00. Stick with the Szechuan Dumplings for an app — they're fantastic, especially if you like Thai influenced dishes. The sauce has a nice peanut-like spice to it and the dumplings are nice and thin.
Moo-Shu Pork is very good and they roll the ingredients into pancakes for you tableside. Order extra pancakes because one serving only gives you two (why I don't know).
Service was so-so last night. Sometimes their newer wait staff are still learning English so just keep that in mind and be patient. They are all very nice.
Always busy, sit down Chinese restaurant with wait staff wearing bow ties and vests, voluminous menus featuring all manner of yummy options served family style. Sadly this is a dying breed of Asian venue with the upsurge of de rigueur fusion, sushi and thai food.
We bumped into the family of old friends, some we haven't seen since the last wedding or bar mitzvah. Hugs, kisses and selfies all around as our group swelled to include the friendly table next to us.
We ordered Zombies, eggrolls and spring rolls to start, all of which were excellent. Next we opted for different seafood dishes which were fresh and delicious. It took some extra flagging down to find a server for water and to get our entrée orders in. Once the meals began to come out, we were good.
We're accustomed to city hours when dining and were the last table seated. By the time we were done with the meal, the restaurant was a ghost town, all the suburbians home prepping for their next B&T workday. We opted to pass on dessert, rather than dine in the Omega Man deserted main room.
Decent Chinese food in an old-school style restaurant, complete with formally-dressed waitstaff and white table cloths… and of course, constantly filled water glasses.
I loved the egg drop soup, but was not pleased with the tasteless and overly-dense dumplings. Both entrees were good, but nothing to write home about. The proteins in the entrees, however, were insanely tender and perfectly prepared. Dinner for 2 was a bit pricy for what we got at $45 before tip.
It makes me sad that they didn't have the "2 soups, 1 appetizer, 1 from column A and 1 from column B" dinner that a lot of sit-down Chinese joints have. I'm not sure why that saddened me.
Good place to stop if you're in the area and looking for a non-takeout Chinese meal.
The Golden Dynasty has really good food which is hampered by its service and drinks. If I was going to rate them solely on the food they would get at least 4 stars. Unfortunately the service was just terrible. We had to ask for things several times before we received them on several occasions. It also took AT LEAST 10 minutes between when the first entree came out in our party of 7 till the last came out. If we were ordering family style I could understand but everyone ordered a separate meal.
Also it seemed like we constantly had different wait staff serving us which is probably why when we asked for something it would never come and we would have to ask again.
Lastly I ordered a zombie to drink. I've had zombies in different restaurants and this was by far the worse. I couldn't put my finger on what it was but it had way too much of something in there. Whatever that something was it definitely wasn't the rum.
I would not want to come back here unless I had to despite liking the food a lot.
Eh.
I find a lot of the Chinese food in these parts of NJ to be really BLAND. So bland that they don't even offer a curry dish (oh the horror to offer such a disgusting item
::eye roll::
Fried rice is basically flavorless. Same with lo mein.
The only thing I will order are the spare ribs.
