  1. This place is fantastic.

My boyfriend and I ordered from the all you can eat Sushi menu. Its basically $25 per person for unlimited Sushi.  I had eaten Sushi before, but pretty basic California roles and stuff nothing big.
We tried several different types and they were all SO GOOD!
They were so fresh and "yummy".
The restaurant itself is very clean and the staff is friendly.
I really, really liked this place for the service, atmosphere, SUSHI and even the bathroom (cleanliness).
    It's a great spot.

The only thing I don't like is that they charge about $2-$2.25 a soda.  I told my boyfriend that it wasn't unlimited drinks (thanks to the yelper who provided that head's up).  He didn't believe me and ordered about 3 sodas one after another. At the end of the night we spent about $12 just on soda. He really didn't expect it to not be unlimited drinks.  I think that if we're paying for the unlimited Sushi Menu the soda should be unlimited too.

    I'm eager to go again.

  2. This is a great place, you can get Chinese food or Japanese food. They have a lot of choices and I was never dissatisfied any of the times I've been here.

  3. The food and service here are not that impressive.  I used to go quite often when I was in my early 20s and was always pumped about the all-you-can-eat special.  The past is always better.  There are limits on what exactly you can get and the staff is not that friendly.

  4. Unimpressive Sushi – it was strange, looking at the rolls you'd think that they would be better, they were large, a lot of fish – well put together, but they were just missing…something.  The tuna and salmon was also a relatively low quality fish – which just kills it.

The chinese food section I think is much better – their soups are really good, cold noodles were good.  The Pad Thai was a little mushy, and the chic on the phone was rude.

Eh, not impressed at all, maybe I'll give them another shot, but the other places I've been too have been better.  I also don't always love the chinese/japanese combo restaurants…pick on, knock it out of the park; don't do semi good for both.

  5. I use to come here more often.  The food has definitely gone downhill. It's average at best now.  I found the staff to be a little moody/rude.   They use to have my favorite fried pork dumplings around but now I find them dry and not as tasty.

The all you can eat sushi is a favorite for some but I personally don't find it worth it.

In a bind I'll probably return but will try to avoid it.

  6. I love this place.  Great sushi and great chinese food.  More often than not, my gf and I order delivery service from here.  We know that things get pricey from this place, but it's worth it for us.  The quality of the food is great, especially since I'm usually ordering white meat chicken dishes.  My gf is the one usually ordering sushi, and she loves it.  When we eat in, staff is friendly and sushi is equally as good.  My go to dish is a white meat sesame chicken combo with fried rice.  I love it.  Great quality chicken and actual delicious fried rice…not the kind that's only doused in soy sauce with some tiny chopped carrots and stuff.  It used to be that if you ordered $15+ worth of take out/delivery, you get one free item, $30+ gets you two free items.  With their new menu, it is now 1 item with $20+, 2 items for $40+.  Free items are usually a choice of something like a california roll, fried wontons, or a soup.  All in all, even though the take-out bill can get up to 40 bucks for 2 people, it's a delicious choice for a meal.  Yummy Yummy!

  7. Surprisingly not a bad all you can eat sushi place.  I came here last summer (long overdue Yelp, I suppose) and I remember being a little skeptical about seeking out sushi in Long Beach, but the people I was eating with were from Long Island so it seemed like a decent compromise, plus I got to spend the day at the beach.

I don't even think we really took advantage of the all you can eat option, really.  The amount of food they give you is so much that you really need to come here on an empty stomach to get your money's worth.  So if you're not super hungry and planning on eating at least 3 rolls to yourself there really isn't much point in opting for the AYCE option.  With that being said, the sushi was pretty good and better than expected.

  8. Before I tried the sushi, this place was a solid 3-4 in my eyes. Now, I can't give it any more than a 2.

The good: The chinese food is pretty tasty. I love their General Tso's, especially when you eat in. The delivery is fast, there's a great lunch special, the Chinese food is generally well done and even eating in gives you good service.

The bad: Everything but the Chinese food. I once ordered off the Asian fusion menu, and ordered some mango chicken dish. Yuck. Super soggy veggies and fruit pieces and overdone chicken in a sticky mango sauce just did not tickle my fancy. But, I kept ordering from there because I actually liked their Chinese food.

One day, when I had visitors and we wanted to do a sushi lunch and Nagahama was closed in the middle of the day, we decided to try a sushi special. I really, really wish I hadn't. Everything with tuna in it was completely inedible. We were served seriously stinky fish. Seriously stinky! I'm pretty sure it was rotting, and one by one we sent that part back. They replaced it with whatever we wanted, but the salmon was also of such poor quality it wasn't even worth a replacement.

I don't know how they still serve sushi. I think they should stop. I don't care if it's all you can eat or special, I don't want to eat any of it.
