Nelly's Corner has some really good food to offer. The portions here are great, service is excellent and the guys here are super friendly. They also have a pretty nice yelp deal so be sure to check in and show them.
Food – They got it all. They make good pizza, sandwiches, chicken w/rice, burritos, ribs, mac n cheese, breakfast stuff, and more. Its all here and it's all pretty good. It's never too salty like many other places.
Service – Superb!
Verdict – They have a parking lot and they are conveniently located right off the Van Wyck Expressway. It's right next to Jamaica Hospital. They serve up great lunch specials every day. I grew very fond of this place about 10 years ago when I was visiting my mother everyday after school at Jamaica Hospital. It's really close to my house and I actually prefer getting food from here over the places they have on Austin St or any other place in Forest Hills or Kew Gardens. If you happen to be stuck in traffic on the Van Wyck and you're hungry or visiting someone at the hospital, give Nellys Corner a try.
12 years ago, I walked into Nelly's and fell in love. Wonderful quick food, homemade, and family owned by the nicest of families. One day, I got one of my favorite bagels with cream cheese, paused, and asked Nelly, "You don't have any breakfast burritos?" Nelly asked, "What is that". And that, my friends, started a foodie & restaurateur friendship that bonded over a common west coast item. They sold like hotcakes.
Whenever in NY, I don't often have a chance to stop in, but relish in the fact that the Nelly's sign still shines brightly next to Jamaica Hospital off the Van Wyck. Stop in whenever in the area or to/from JFK for a bite. You'll be pleased.
